Scouting Report

Red Sox: Colon performed exactly how Boston wanted him to heading into his last start against Kansas City. After having his contract bought from Triple-A Pawtucket earlier in the afternoon, Colon gave up two runs in five innings while striking out four. He hurled 74 pitches in the outing while sprinkling six hits throughout. And while he didn't hit the high-90s velocity he did during his dominant years, Colon managed to escape jams in the third and fifth innings. Lifetime against the Mariners, Colon is 12-10 with a 4.40 ERA. But he tends to pitch well in Seattle; the righty is 8-1 with a 2.17 ERA at Safeco Field.

Mariners: The young right-hander, whose start was pushed back two days because of a calf injury, has pitched better than his record indicates. The 22-year-old has allowed two or fewer runs in six of his 10 starts but takes a three-game losing streak into his start against the Red Sox.

Okay I got a good feeling about tonight's game. Mostly because the Mariners flat out suck. So win it, and win it again.

Well after watching this pathetic Seattle team play the Yanks, I would expect to start a new winning streak tonight! Colon is probabaly still on a pitch count restriction, so the bullpen could be a factor tonight.

can we just win a f***ing game on the road?!

oh, and for anyone who wondered what Andre the Giant wouldve looked like in a Red Sox cap...

You know for Colon's size, and age, he's actually quite an accomplished pitcher. Granted he's probably nowhere NEAR his old self, nor will he ever, he's still got a great career record.

That aside, f*** his career, we need him now. Pull of a win Colon.

From the Globe:

SEATTLE - Sox first baseman Kevin Youkilis was scratched from tonight's lineup because of a pain in the top of his right hand. Youkilis said he doesn't remember how he hurt the hand, but he decided he couldn't play after taking batting practice.

The injury, which Youkilis said he started feeling last night, is day-to-day.

As a result, Youkilis, who was going to bat sixth, was replaced at first base by Sean Casey, who bats eighth. J.D. Drew is now hitting sixth, Varitek seventh, Casey eighth, and Lugo ninth.

Swung at the first pitch and hit a grounder to third.

Ah, the usual.

There should be a new symbol for Lugo's at bat. A giant U for "the usual."

Good, now finish this inning. Why is everyone so agressive at the dish tonight? You would think that Seattle would try to drive Colon's pitch count up and get him out early, but they seem to be willing to let him hang around for awhile.
