Re: Abe Alvarez
k so far theo has done one of things on my wish list, which was to at least demote vazquez to the minors. now theo would you please get done with embree!!! his ERA in 37 appearances is 8.05, and gave up 2 runs in the 9th inning yesterday to make a red sox rally harder to come by

Re: Abe Alvarez
Don't judge a book by its cover, or in this case a pitcher by his hat.

Re: Abe Alvarez
Scouting Report: Tall and lanky lefty. Has been compared to Orel Hershiser and Jamie Moyer. Changes speeds well and hits his spots with consistency. Fastball isn't fantastic, topping out in the mid to high 80s, but throws all of his pitches with pinpoint control. Best changeup and command in the Sox farm system. Curveball needs some work. Very mature, knows what he needs to do to prepare for each game. Very focused. Legally blind in his left eye. Wears his hat to the side to balance the lighting in his blind eye - not as a fashion statement.
That is the scouting report, he is blind, so don't make fun of him.

Re: Abe Alvarez

Re: Abe Alvarez
Who honestly cares about the way a guy wears his hat, or how long his hair is, or how he wears a chain? Christ, some people will look for any reason to complain.
I wish they had kept Alvarez and gotten rid of Halama. Alvarez can definatly be better then Halama.

i hope you dont think i care about how players look. i wasnt the one complaining. i was sticking up for the kid. im the biggest ABE ALVAREZ FAN in the world.
i think alvarez narveson and dinardo are 3 talented lefties that can take the spots for embree and halama.

Re: Abe Alvarez
alvarez started shakey but got some help and the win yesterday. 11-4 now with 100k's. not too bad for the "soft thrower".
here is a little stat i like to look at for starting pitchers...wins to games started. alvarez has 22 starts and 11 wins. usually if a starting pitcher can win half his starts he is doing well.

Re: Abe Alvarez
His future is in the bullpen, he won't help the Red Sox in the rotation. His A game is pretty good, his B game is average, and his C game is like having a start from John Henry. He won't ever be a dominant pitcher, but he could be a good bullpen guy to have on the roster.
