David Murphy
I don't know if anyone has been keeping track but 24 year old David Murphy is really starting to turn it on in the Arizona Fall League. He is now batting .319/.364/.528. As far as I know his hitting is the only thing stopping him from making a run to be on a major league team. I hear he is a fantastic defensive outfielder and if he can get his swing under control and put up numbers he could become our top OF prospect. It is possible Murphy could be our next Trot Nixon.

Re: David Murphy coming alive!
Per rotoworld
David Murphy went 3-for-5 with a triple and two runs scored today for the Saguaros of the AFL.
Murphy is batting .319/.364/.528 in 72 at-bats. He started off 3-for-21, so he's played very well the last three weeks.

Re: David Murphy coming alive!
We could use him, especially now, while most of our OF is in limbo.

Re: David Murphy
Its great to see so many of our prospects getting promoted so early in the season, and many surely will get a chance at the next level.

Re: David Murphy
Thre's no clear-cut layout for how our PF will turn out, and chances are it could turn into a log-jam, with us getting Wily Mo, Coco, and our propsects comin up like Murphy and Ellsbury

The kid has deceptive power. I saw him hit 2 Homers in ST with a very easy swing that looked like he was just trying to make contact.

Re: David Murphy
He's more of a gap hitter. He had 17 doubles in AA.

Re: David Murphy
There's something about Portland( Hanley, Murphy ) that makes very good prospect look mediocre .
Murphy = Future .280, 15-20hr type

We desperately need a 4th OF. It would be better if he was a righty, but he can chase down flies, and if he can hit a little, he can spell Manny when his Hammies act up and Nixon when his back acts up.

Re: David Murphy
Gabe Kapler is set to come back by late this month. New reports on Wily Mo Pena have him coming back around the all-star break. Cant wait to have this outfield
Manny
Coco
Trot
Gabe
Wily Mo
Good to hear that David Murphy is doing very well this season, he could be valuable to the Sox as trade bait.

Re: David Murphy
I think Murphy will be our 4th OF next year, seeing some time in RF when Willy Mo needs a day off.
Manny
Coco
Willy Mo
Murphy
Kapler (if he comes back and is healthy next year)

I could see that, plus he can play all 3 OF positions, and could be a late inning defensive replacement.
