Another Taiwanese pitcher is signed by Red Sox. His name is Wang-Yi Lin, a 18-year-old right-handed pitcher who is 6'3", 194 lbs. He was a hitter one year ago. His coaches turned him into a pitcher because he has a strong arm. As a pitcher, he is very raw and his mechanics needs a lot of refinement. Right now, he doesn't have much other than a strong arm.
Because of the upcoming WBC, the CTBA (Chinese Taipei Baseball Association) checked the player list with MLB office and suprisingly found that Lin was signed. Like Chiang, Lin is a high school student who will graduate in June. CTBA is VERY unhappy to see MLB teams sign high school players who haven't garduate yet. Thay may set more restrictions to prevent it.
