Jsing, unless you are not a Red Sox fan YOU are part of Red Sox Nation and therefore just as idiotic as the rest of us where the Red Sox are concerned. You never heard me say I am giving up on Lester, only that he is having some struggles right now. I have no intention of giving up on him. Try not to read anything in my posts. Take the words as written. Of course, I didn't know his back was hurting him and that I can understand. I was at my chiropractor today and will be tomorrow for him to work on my back. Believe me, having a sore back in no walk in the park. Keep the posts coming, though. You are entertaining to read.

He has sucked I will give you that but I can name a boatload of great pitchers that sucked and had very good careers. Hell this experience may end up being good for him.

I am with you on this Fred. We want the kid to succeed, but he's had a lot of problems from the get go with consistency. While we are not giving up on him, other posters are over enthusiatic about his future. I don't get excited until I start seeing the results. Lester has given us glimpses of success that cause us to hope, but he has not shown the consistency that is necessary to succeed in the ML.

That's all I wanted to hear. I am aware that great pitchers sucked, but the point is, RIGHT NOW, he's sucking.

He is sucking just like the rest of the team is sucking. Its not 1 player that contributed to where they are now. a combination of injuries and slumping players is why this team is done.

I'm not arguing why I think this team is done. I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm saying that he's sucking, which he is, but you always want to refute that point with something about how great players have sucked in their rookie years. I'm not saying he's a bust, I'm not saying he's going to be bad in the future. ALL I'm saying is that he's sucked, THIS SEASON. I'm not asking for a reason as to why this team is sucking, and I'm certainly not pointing a finger at only him.

I don't know how old you are Jsing, not that it matters except knowing how long you've been a Red Sox rooter. I actually came on board after watching them at Fenway six years ago this month and proclaimed that I had finally found my team that I had been looking for since the Dodgers left Brooklyn. Well hell, wouldn't you know my first full year was 2001 when they suffered a terrible collapse late in the season and I wondered what the hell I got into. However, within three years they had gone all the way. I can only hope this is another 2001 and better days are ahead the next few seasons. The ball is in Theo's court, though. He has to decide do we rebuild from the ground up or do we try and reload with the right players. The latter means they have to be willing to go out and spend some serious cash to get pitching (Schmidt and Zito and Leinbrink) come to mind, resign Loretta to keep a solid bat at the keystone, and put Pedroia at short----which they seem reluctant to do. There should be enough freed money to make a serious effort if they want to go that route with some divine help to keep us away from the injury epidemic that has ravaged our team of late.

seabeach fred, I have seen a good hanful of games at Pawtucket and I can tell you that Pedroia is best served playing 2nd. He does play a serviceable shortstop, but his range is best suited as a 2nd baseman. Personally I think it would be best to resign Gonzo.

Riverside, I can respect your take on Pedroia since you've seen him more than I have. You have mentioned serviceable shortstop. Well, that sits fine with me. I do not want to have another weak hitting SS in our lineup. I think this season proves that we need every bat we can get in the lineup. If Pedroia is going to play second and we are going to let Loretta walk ( a bad mistake if you ask me), at least sign a shortstop who can hit well.

sea, he is not that good of a shortstop to play fulltime. He has always projected to play second and that is his position. Loretta's time is up in Boston.

Well Jsing, it looks like I'm again outvoted on this and another site I post on. The Red Sox have not played Dustin at short since the Angels series so I guess they agree with the majority of you. Then sign Lugo for two seasons because I do not want any weak bats in the lineup. In the heavy hitting American League no team can afford to give up any outs especially when their pitching "MIGHT" be a problem. We still don't know what the FO is going to do there in the off season.
