Mid-season Top Ten prospects
Rate your top ten prospects for the Red Sox, in your opinion. Excluding those in the majors, of course.
1. Micheal Bowden SP, Greenville
2. Jacoby Ellsbury CF, Wilmington
3. Dustin Pedroia 2B, Pawtucket
4. Clay Buchholtz SP, Greenville
5. David Murphy OF, Pawtucket
6. Edgar Martinez RP, Portland
7. Jed Lowrie IF, Wilmington
8. Jason Place OF, GCL Red Sox
9. Daniel Bard SP, unsigned
10. Luis Soto OF, Greenville

Re: Mid-season Top Ten prospects
Works for me. Cox and LaPorta probably find their way onto that list if they get signed.

Cox will sign. He's a senior, so he can't return to Rice. I'd like to see him throw strikes on a more consistent basis.

Re: Mid-season Top Ten prospects
That's right, I forgot he was a senior. Yeah, that tends to be the rub with the young fireballers - lack of command. However, I wouldn't look at his entire season line. I've read a couple of articles that say he had made a turn-around about mid-season. I'm thinking he makes the list if his 2nd half form reports to Ft. Myers/Lowell.
Hey, you going to the game tomorrow? Beckett vs. Kazmir.

I wasn't going tommorow, until I just read your last three words. So, I'll be at the first three games.

Chris Snow of the Globe gives his ranking as of 6/30:

I don’t understand his ranking Stern as #7.

Re: Mid-season Top Ten prospects
What's Luis Soto about? What are his strengths/weaknesses, who does he remind anyone of? He's really the only guy here I don't know much about.

Re: Mid-season Top Ten prospects
I love Bard's stuff, I think he needs a little coaching and some refining and i think this guy could be a great pitcher.

He is a young guy with a lot of great tools, but he hasn't really put it all together yet. He is at Single A I think and he is still young. He also has had some injuries, but I think he is gonna be fine.
