At 15 yrs old, he should be playing both ways and not getting stuck in a specific role.

He pitched the first game of the season and went 5 IP, 8 K, 2 BB, 1 H, 1 R, 0 ER for the JV squad (no freshman on the varsity team at this school).
Two way baseball players in H.S or college are very common in Florida or any where in the country, Merrit island is known as a football school and not as a baseball school that may have something to do with it, my suggestion would be for the kid to transfer to another school which also its very common in Florida.

Yes space coast area is very large for football and not much for baseball... We had guys coming to our school to play football from Coco beach... But for some reason they don't take baseball as seriously in that area.

It's def. a good area for spring training tho, I used to skip school all the time in the spring and go Space Coast stadium to watch the Marlins ST games before they moved.

Does anyone think that to find top right handed hitting its over rated? Think again, out of the top 9 outfielders (H.S. and college) for this June's draft only one hits right handed and two out of the top 13. Stanford's Michael Taylor and Jared Prince from Washington state are the right handed hitting outfielders, however if an organization feels that Todd Frazier a power (projected) RH hitting short stop from Rutgers university who projects as a third baseman would be a better fit for the outfield, because of his bat would project as the fourth ranked outfield prospect.

Personally I'm hoping to the Sox pick a Shortstop(their weakest position in the farm). Obviously the best SS is Jackson but he'll be go in the top 15 at least. Their is a solid contingent of Shortstops that may get to the sandwich round: (brewerfan rankings in [#])
Nick Noonan[44]
Ryan Dent [40]
Christain Colon[53]
Zach Cozart[52]
Noonan probably doesn't have the range to stay at short so that rules out him
Dent has the range and is very speedy, compared to Furcal, only shortstop I would consider taking with the Sox first pick.
Colon has a good glove and will stick at short, his bat is a bit weaker then Dent's, lower ceiling.
Cozart has a Gold glove cailiber glove, not a great hitter, can fly up the system, low ceiling, Pedroia with less bat and more glove.
If the Sox don't get one of those three they could go for Josh Horton out of UNC.
Might fall to Boston in 2nd Round(#72 by Brewfan) or could fly up the charts if he has a year similar to last year.

Other Guys I would like for the first two picks:
Wes Roemer
Josh Donaldson
Wynn Pezler
Eddie Kunz
Sam Demel
Andrew Carignan
Jordan Zimmerman
JAmes Adkins
Cole St. Clair

Great news to hear. Starting this year the MLB draft will be televised live for the first time ever. June 7 from 2-6pm at the Disney Sports Complex

May we all live long enough to see any one drafted by the Red Sox in 2007 become a starting player for the big league team.

Yep the Red Sox will never draft a player capable of starting for a major league team

They most definitely will, but by the time someone from the 2007 draft is a starter on the ML team, only or two players will be left from the current roster.

Tim Lincecum was drafted last year. It's not like everyone waits for 5 years.

And thats just players that have started for the Red Sox, oh you missed Mo Vaughn. How about these traded away: David Eckstein, Adam Everett, Freddy Sanchez, Hanley Ramirez, Jeff Bagwell

That's not much to brag about for the last 25 years. With pitching being the most important position, we haven't produced too many solid starters in the last 25 years.

The last time our highest pick was a 2nd rounder, he got here quick enough wouldnt you say?
