Re: The 2007 baseball draft
A big surprise is brewing in the draft. It appears the DRays are going to take Catcher Matt Wieters with the 1st overall pick tomorrow. This is from one of the writers at pinstripesplus.com. He says he has 2 extremely reliable sources.

Yea how could the Yankees be that stupid to sign a kid to a MLB contract? Its not like its been done before

Re: The 2007 baseball draft
I wonder where the Yankees are gonna go in this draft. If you remember in 2005 they could have had Craig Hansen and they didnt want to give him a ML contract so they picked CJ Henry. Last year they spent way over the slotting price to get guys like Chamberlain and Dellin Bentencs.

Re: The 2007 baseball draft
It's a deep draft, so the tough signs might slip farther that usual. The Sox and Yanks will make their hay after the 6th round, IMO.

Re: The 2007 baseball draft
well, the writer at PP was wrong. But Porcello is falling and would be an absolute STEAL if he falls to NY.

Re: The 2007 baseball draft
Porcello, Main, and Harvey have not been selected. This is turning into a very good situation.

Re: The 2007 baseball draft
Harvey and Smoker are the only other 2 I'd want out of the 1st round pitchers.

I thought you were hoping to get that Andrew Brackmann kid?
edit, roto hits it right on

Tigers selected high school RHP Rick Porcello with the 27th pick in the 2007 draft.
And Yankees fans are left disappointed again. Porcello would have been the No. 2 pick in the draft behind Price had cost been irrelevant, but he wants a major league deal and perhaps the largest bonus in the draft. Considered by some to be the top high school pitcher since Josh Beckett, he throws in the mid-90s and has an excellent curveball. If the Tigers can't sign him, he'll go to North Carolina in the fall.

Re: The 2007 baseball draft
Time to get Harvey
The only reason why I wanted Brackman was because I had no idea these guys would be close to available. Harvey is a top 10 talent. TAKE HIM!
