I'm still in favor of having Coco as a 4th OF if necessary. I know its not what we got him for, but who cares? He's versatile and very useful as a switchhitting 3 position player with speed and, hopefully, a decent OBP guy.

Agreed, not to mention he still has the talent (somewhere anyway) to hit .300 and hit a few dingers. However, no matter how he did this season I was in favor of Ellsbury in CF come '08. I don't know but seeing Coco out of the lead-off spot has added a level of annoyance for me, he just seems useless in the 8 hole and a waste of 600 ABs. I would almost rather see WMP in tehre and K 200 times, just because he woudl still hit 20 or so bombs. As for Jacoby he should definately be considered for AAA, he's on (A-ROD) fire right now.

Im still under the camp that whose to say Coco will say ok so willingly to being demoted to a bench role? If Coco is the 4th OF next year, I would imagine that the Sox will be packing Wily Mo's bags for the road then

I guess I don't care if Coco doesn't like a 4th OF role, first of all. Second, I don't think anyone would like being demoted. And finally, is there any reason to think he would be any more or less likely to take it 'like a man' than any other player? The Red Sox are his employers. That's that.

Tell that to Jay Payton. Now Im not saying he's going to get in Tito's face like Payton did in Texas... but Im just thinking say if is able to rebound to a Cleveland like season (.300 avg, 15 +/- HRs, 60+ RBIs, 25 +/- SBs), should the Sox shy away from lower market teams offering intriguing trades?

I don't get the sense that the sox take very many players off the table ever. I imagine if a good offer came for Ellsbury they would be listening (you know, we always mention Miguel Cabrera).

There's just a certain amount of professionalism I expect from these guys, and while there are Jay Payton's out there I don't get the sense that Crisp has quite the ego of Payton.
