Sea Dogs '07
I like the idea of the team thread for the prospects. Much easier this way.
Through 5, tied 1-1
Buchholz 8K/1BB, 1ER, 3H (3.72 ERA on the season)
Lowrie 1/2, 1HR (.300 on the season)
Ellsbury 1-1, HBP (.414 on the season)

I bet you Coco Crisp couldn't hit .452 at AA....but we can wait since the team looks real good at the moment. No need to mix things up at the present time.

There aren't enough players on this team yet to say they are looking real good. They were saved by Manny's shot tonight but their offense hasn't been 'dynamic' by any stretch. I'm not saying call Ellsbury up right away, but if Coco's still looking at mid-.200 I, for one, advocate it strongly. This kid is a tremendous athelete.

Re: Sea Dogs '07
I think a couple call ups will do a lot of good... it would bring something to the team, when players get called up, it's there chance so they give it all they got every night and it's nice to see that... I think that's why the Marlins did so well last year, they had a tun of fresh rookies waiting for there chance and they took full advantage of it... and they had 2 of the best/younger players to guide them along the way(Cabrera/Willis)

I could be wrong but didn't Miguel Cabrera come up late in the season? I also recall K-Rod showing up late for the Angels when they won the World Series.
Maybe the thing to do is give the kids a long steady season in the minors and bring them up when they are comfortable and still a mystery in the majors.
Time will tell but I think you have to wait until the all-star break before deciding to make a drastic change before its absolutly necessary.

Re: Sea Dogs '07
right, but Frankie was filthy and Cabrera was all world talent. I dont think you should hinder Ellsbury while dealing with Cocout, but Ells isnt that kind of talent. You have just as much chance of him involuting and being poor as him catching fire. I'd still bring him up to AAA and see how he does there. And then bring him up to patrol CF. I think he will be good.

I really think he should be brought up to AAA soon, I don't want them to rush him but they shouldn't hold him down too, if they're going by Coco being good or Ellsbury being ready i hope when Ellsbury is ready they say see ya to Coco... Well at least bring up Ellsbury and maybe platoon him with Coco to get him comfortable then let him take over... maybe trade Coco by the Deadline...

Re: Sea Dogs '07
In any case, I think it will be a big deal when this kid is brought up. He is likely the next great Red Sox homegrown talent and there is much about the kid that the faithful will appreciate. His speed, fielding and ability to get on base will make him exciting. I really think he can steal 40 bags if they let him run.

Re: Sea Dogs '07
If Coco bounces back and has decent trade value, we can deal him and start Ellsbury at center in 08.
