Someone's reaching for things to criticize the Red Sox on, huh?

Let's be real, Hansen was nowhere near the pitcher in AA Buchholz is. Period.

Comparing the two seems a bit shortsighted to me.

That being said I think the Sox tread water til Beckett and Lester come back.

Hansen barely had any time in the minors before being called up, its not like the Sox would be rushing Bucholz up after being drafted. Maybe Im wrong but theyve steadily brought him up from 3 Single A stops to now Double A Portland where he's "getting by" with a sub 2 ERA. Hansen and Bucholz are 2 different beasts, one is a starter the other is a "closer in waiting"
, different pitches, motion, etc.

As Kilo said Jacko, I find it funny that youre going to these extremes to rile us because you cant rip good at our 1st place team. Maybe it helps you feel better that your Yankees "are doing things right with your prospects and the Sox arent".

Garza was brought up from Single A not Double A

EDIT: Hilarious also you act like a scout and say Bucholz is alright but I know his weaknesses so there is no guarantee for you that he will be good. Chamberlain, Betances will both have more success against him and any other sox pitcher, yadi yadi yada

WHy would Buchholz follow Hughes' path? They already have different paths, as Buchholz went to college for a few years. That already means they are on different paths.

I think the handling of the pitchers should be brought into question. Craig Hansen has been a one inning reliever his entire career, and he has two great pitches. The Red Sox move him into the rotation, and tell him to work on a changeup. That makes absolute ZERO sense. I don't see how this helps his development. Have him pitch in a traditional role in Pawtucket. One inning every other day. This five inning stuff was an absolute terrible idea.

And off-topic. The sox balked at giving up Delcarmen for Helton? Wow.

17.2IP 22H 8BB 25K 5.60ERA
Great strikeout numbers. Let's see if he can normalize his hit rate.

I think $ had a bigger role than Delcarmen.

Delcarmen, OTOH, was brought along as his age dictated and as his success dictated. He just isnt all that good of a MLB pitcher.
He really just has that fastball. He has shown he can throw a curveball, but not with command. If he ever gets a hold of it, he will be a good pitcher.

But Hansen, a first round pick with Papelbon-esque stuff is struggling mostly because he is now bat shy after getting the shit kicked out of him.
You know this how?

Quote:
If you bring up Buchholz and he gets shit on like Hansen did, you risk losing your biggest chip/prospect when you honestly dont need to right now.
If he can't handle failure, then fuck him. He doesn't deserve to pitching the bigs.

Besides, it is WAY WAY WAY too early to write Hansen or Delcarmen off.
