2007 Futures Game
I just got in, so it's the top of the 3rd.
Joba's pitching for the US team. Given the stories I've read and the looks of him, the name fits. He's got some potential Bartolo-like affinity for the buffet table in him. He's reportedly dropped some weight, but I can see a future of struggles with weight.

Re: 2007 Futures Game
Nice throw by Anderson to get Hu on the K/CS double-play.

Re: 2007 Futures Game
Doesn't exactly look too heavy...I'm a bit surprised. He seems a bit wild, but that was a great fastball on the strike'em out throw'em out double play. And now he gets saved by the first basemen on a hanging breaking ball.

Re: 2007 Futures Game
No, he doesn't look heavy now, but he looks like he once was. A lot of pro athletes that struggle with weight when they are younger do a good job keeping it off in their young 20's for a bit, but it usually finds a way to reappear.

Re: 2007 Futures Game
De Los Santos is nasty. Ellsbury is a guy who held his own and then some against MLB pitching, and this guy blew him away.

Re: 2007 Futures Game
Yeah, De Los Santos was pretty impressive for a kid in A+ facing some more polished hitters.

Re: 2007 Futures Game
Buchholtz - 1.0 IP 1 H 1 ER 2 K's 1 HR
Looked pretty good. Good curve, good change, good command on the fastball.
Fastball looked a little flat on the pitch to Votto.

Re: 2007 Futures Game
It wasn't really that bad of a pitch to Votto.
The rest he looked nasty.

Re: 2007 Futures Game
Buchholz' change and curve are really good. As long as he can spot that FB and keep it down, he'll thrive off his offspeed stuff.

Re: 2007 Futures Game
Ellsbury goes down looking again. Good AB, tried to get the call on the 3-2 breaker and was bested by the pitcher. Still, good AB.

Re: 2007 Futures Game
I really didnt get a chance to take a look at anyone really. I was dozing on and off throughout the game, which I didn't even turn on until the 4th inning.
