Not too sure yet. The Giants have Barry Bonds, so they will for sure contend, but they are just an arthritis away from joining the Rockies in the basement. The Padres aren't doing anything to improve themselves from last year. I think the D'backs have a chance, too but it's slim. The Rockies? 'Nuff said.

Dodgers win the division (Please Nomah, stay healthy), while the Giants finish 2nd. And the division won't be as amazing as last year.

i know it sounds greedy but i'd have preferred sanders to lofton in the OF. not too thrilled with picking up Tomko (great another ex-gnat) but i guess we'll have to see how that works out. he's been pretty s***** lately with the exception of '04.

Update:

NL West

109-95 (.534)

NL Central

124-121 (.506)

NL East

92-109 (.458)

AL East

105-94 (.528)

AL Central

100-100 (.500)

AL West

76-87 (.466)

Surprisingly, the NL West has the best winning percentage thus far. Hopefully, 90 wins is to win the division, not some ******** 82 wins like last year. The Dodgers are so underachieving because of the crappy bullpen.

I'm tired of the NL West bashing. I'm hoping no team finishes (yes, even the Giants, but I prefer them to finish last :)) with less than 75 wins. Keep it up, NL West!

pawtucket would win that division

how does a complete stiff like brett tomko come to dominate that league?

honestly

i think san diego is the best team in that division but theyre always 1 or 2 guys away from getting over the hump

i think jake peavy is the best pitcher in that division not named schmidt

we dont see too much baseball from that area out here but from what ive witnessed id say that they have a leg up...

Jake Peavy is the best pitcher in that division bar none.

Tough call on the division. Colorado might have the best production from the corners (LF - Holliday, RF - Hawpe, 1B - Helton, 3B - Atkins) in the division and they finally got some pitchers that can keep the ball on the ground (I can't figure out why their system hasn't been stocked with sinkerballers for years now). I wouldn't be that surprised if the Rox can win the division.

id have to say Brandon Webb's the best pitcher in the division, followed by Peavy, Schmidt and Penny.

Tomko's had a real good season so far, but i wouldnt expect that from him the whole year

I agree. Peavy is the best. 2nd is Webb.

Now for the closers, Fuentes is the best and Baez is the worst.

Cook and Francis are both good pitchers. I don't look at W/L to evaluate a pitcher. For me it's ERA, K/9, WHIP, and GB/FB.

Mark Bellhorn hit the longest homer in Petco Park history today, 438 feet. The record before his, was 436 feet by Albert Pujols.

Shows that Bellhorn's got more power than Pujols.

Here is the thing, they are playing against each other, so obviously you won't have good or bad teams because they are all mediocre. I can see the D-Backs win it, but if the Dodgers make some moves at the deadline, it will be the Dodgers with Gagne possibly coming back soon.

it was close, between the dbacks and dodgers, webb is incredible so he got my edge. the dodgers have all of our old favorites, but I think they will die down come august.

One thing's for sure: the division won't be as atrociously bad as last year. This year, it will take 90 wins to win it.
