I think it's a pretty cool thing to do, personally. The only people capable of "ruining" the moment are the fans by booing A-Rod. It can't be so difficult to just not boo the guy once so he can congratulate his friend.

Another lose/lose situation for A-Rod. The Red Sox organization asked A-Rod to tape the message, but some view it as A-Rod trying to steal the thunder from Manny. On the other hand, if A-Rod refused to make the tape he would be looked at as self-centered and arrogant. He can't win this situation.
