I have said many times in the Joba thread that Andrews is actually known for his conservative management. He isnt going to rush into cutting a player if he isnt sure the guy needs it.

Does he think that the guy can throw 95 mph for 100+ pitches with structural damage in the elbow? Of course this awaits the decision of the Doctor. Let's not forget that he is paid to cut people, so there may be a predisposition to surgery. My gripe isn't just with Beckett. He is just symptomatic of the wussification of baseball players, pitcher in particular.
If the UCL is torn, it is difficult to maintain that type of velocity for that long. That being said, we have seen some guys throw with rotator cuffs and UCLs that are holding on by a thread and extend their time until surgery. It is all player specific.

If there is some displacement of the nerve, do they usually continue to pitch until they experience pain that inhibits performance? My understanding is that Papelbon's ulnar nerve is displaced and has been since his school days due to a dislocation of the elbow. He claims that he always has tingling in his fingers.

Heidi Watney - Beckett feels fantastic, no tingling, all smiles in the clubhouse last night and today.

A young guy smiling at Heidi Watney. From this were are supposed to conclude that he fine. Also, I am concerned that he feels no tingling when he is talking to Heidi.
