Red Sox back in
After our disappointingly aborted comeback attempt tonight, the Angels did us a favor by beating the Rangers. Our magic number was 1, so we're in the playoffs.
What a blah way to achieve a moment of triumph. Perhaps I'm just spoiled.
Ahh well, I'll take it anyway it comes. Good bad, climactically awesome like a Youks walkoff would have been, or by letting the Angels do the dirty deed.
See you all in October.

Re: Red Sox back in

Re: Red Sox back in
Meh...
Sox sneak in because another team looses while they loose 5 in a row.
Wonderful.
Come on crap shoot!

Re: Red Sox back in
I have to congratulate the Red Sox for being in the postseason again... Maybe they lost tonight, but they have won 91 games so far, and that's no easy task, even more in maybe the hardest division in baseball.

Re: Red Sox back in
Wow, a lot of enthusiasm in here. You don't sneak into the playoffs when you've won 91 games and counting.

Re: Red Sox back in
This is a great accomplishment for this team. Against the Yankees and Rays, a very good Texas team for most of the season... I'll give them the credit they deserve. A very, very nice result. I love it that we will all get to watch postseason baseball again. It is certainly something to look forward to and it should be an interesting postseason.

Re: Red Sox back in
I am really glad we are back in the playoffs for the 5 time in 6 years. I hope the Sox start playing like the Red Sox we all know and love. I still believe we are a really good team, but the last week or so has knocked my confidence down a little bit. I hope they turn it around in the last week and start playing well before heading to Anaheim.

Re: Red Sox back in
Wow some of you are spoiled. Backed into the playoffs? Sneak in?
You think some Pirates or Royals fan would give 2 flying you know whats if they "backed" into the playoffs? You think Rangers fans would have whined about "sneaking" into the playoffs? Get real.
How about you give them credit for being in a position to where they could loose 5 games in a row and still clinch a playoff spot.
This new "Yankees ish self entitlement that's going around with some Red Sox fans is getting old. Be glad there in.
Nothing else matters at this point. Except the series VS LAA.
Congrats to the Sox for another Playoff berth. And good luck!
Go Red Sox!

Re: Red Sox back in
Well at least I can console myself that even without the Wild Card rule, we would have won in 2007.

Re: Red Sox back in
why do you need to console yourself? the WC has the toughest road to the WS, so winning as the WC doesn't diminish the accomplishment in the slightest.

Re: Red Sox back in
Don't speak of the WC as if it's a cop out, the thing should've been there the entire fucking time. What kind of asshole league has 4 teams make the playoffs anyway?
