Re: Consolation Thoughts Thread
I'm really not sure exactly what the Red Sox need to to, outside of resolve first base.
Their starting pitching is good. Their lineup, position-by-position is good. Their bullpen is solid, today's game not-withstanding. Who do you really replace?
Personally, I would try to get a solid defensive catcher, move Martinez to 1B and Youk to third. You can keep Lowell as a part-time DH with Ortiz and backup to Youk. This way, it wouldn't cost you anything and you'd shut down the running game of your two biggest opponents, the Angels and Yankees.

1B really? How is 1B not resolved for this team already? Youk had a higher OPS then Tex.
3B, SS, LF need to be resolved. 3B could be resolved by adding a 1B though.

I agree but not even part time with Ortiz. Ortiz is done. Split with Kotchman or go out and get someone. What about getting Holliday and keeping Bay and have one DH?

My consolation? Don't need one, I'm not upset and don't need consoling. On to fixing the team.

This.

He is on a series decline, he'll only get worse and is not producing enough at the plate for a DH.

Wow.
I'm not even gonna get into an argument about this.

The logjam. Your best team may be Youk at 3rd, Vmart at 1B and a great defensive catcher.

I actually agree with this. Defense at catcher was definitely one of our problems this year.
