Pedro vs the Yankees
Watching the Phillies celebrate on the field last night, I couldn't stop smiling at the thought of Pedro facing off against the Yankees.
It's going to be fun seeing my favorite player of all time pitching in the World Series again.

Re: Pedro vs the Yankees
And yes, this assumes the inevitable Yankee victory in the ALCS. No "they haven't won yet!!!!" posts please

Re: Pedro vs the Yankees
well they haven't dude! You're trying to ward it off because you know that's a fact!
I wouldn't count on the Angels to pull off a miracle but I wouldn't have counted on the Sox to do it in 2004.
Have a bit of patience. One game at most, maybe two, and you could post a thread like this without being all insecure about it.

Re: Pedro vs the Yankees
I'm not getting the whole Angels as the team of destiny feeling like I did with the Sox after game 4 last year.
Regardless, it would still be fun to see Pedro mow down Angels, even though they won't win.

Re: Pedro vs the Yankees
Pedro still has the movement, but everyone saw what he was against good AL lineups in 2004 when his FB was below his typical mid 90s gas. He was mediocre. That doesnt mean he wont come up with one game for the ages, which is always possible, but I am more worried about closing down the ALCS tonight and then trying to figure out a way to hit Cliff Lee for 2 games.

Re: Pedro vs the Yankees
You know Pedro set the standard for excellence when you can call his 2004 season mediocre.
Well, that, or just be an epic troll.

Actually if you look at the April to end of August numbers Pedro was very good in 04. I think he was like 16-5 with a 3.20 ERA. He sucked in September that year.

Re: Pedro vs the Yankees
Pedro is going to go all out. If he pitches well he might receive offers from both NL and AL teams for next season. That and it's the Yankees. He's going to be pumped.
Anyone else think a Phillies vs Yankees series is going to be more HR Derby then Pitching duels?

Re: Pedro vs the Yankees
The one thing worth noting is that Pedro did not pitch in the NLDS because of the low temperatures, but he pitched a NLCS game in warm weather. If it's Yankees-Phillies, the Phillies won't have the luxury of pitching him in warm weather.
That brings up two questions:
1. Will he even get a start if the series is Yankees-Phillies?
2. If he does get a start, how effective will he be in cold temperatures?

Re: Pedro vs the Yankees
So let's ask the question behind the question.
Let's say he does dominate NYY in the playoffs.
Does that affect anyone's willingness to make him the guy we look at for the rotation, where we have a hole in the 5 spot?
