I'm damn proud of how they finished the season, winning 16 of the last 21, winning under pressure when they had to for an extended period of time. They had many key players including both pitchers and bats get injured and out of the lineup for many games, but every time there was another Yankee able to step up and fill the hole. supported each other. They took advantage of the fact that high quality and high character players jump at the chance to play in pinstripes by adding an old, washed-up Ichiro, found a role for him, and he was happy to oblige hitting over .300. Past-his-prime captain Jeter managed to stave off retirement for another year and finish 5th in the AL batting title. Very satisfying to have them play to their potential.

5 of 6 against us is nothing to be proud of. They should have swept us.

Boston was a just a tiny part of our season. You could point to any single game the Yankees lost and say it was nothing to be proud of just as you could point to any single Boston win and say Sox fans can be proud of the team. This thread is about winning the AL East, a season-long accomplishment much more significant than any single win or loss.

Split the first 2 and they have to win 2 of 3 in Yankee Stadium in the playoffs.

Yea but if the home opening is won by the home team the pressure is on the visitor to win the next or go home with no margin for error. I take that deal if I am the lower ranked team in a minute.
