Re: Youk a Yankee!
I hate it when a favorite goes to the Yankees. It just doesn't seem right.

Re: Youk a Yankee!
If he was going there in his prime and was going to terrorize the Sox for the next 5 years I'd care more. He's trying to showcase himself for that last multi year deal and NY he will get that chance.
As far as making the Yankees better? Meh. He was a shell of his formal self last season. He will be a nice role player for them.

Re: Youk a Yankee!
Gonna be strange see him on Yankee uniform at Fenway. I wonder how the fans are going to react when he's at plate... like last year?

Re: Youk a Yankee!
He and A-rod are very similar players-- Past their prime third-basemen with bad hips, legs and knees, who probably should be at first base or DHing.
That being said, I wish him the best. This organization did him no favors, but as a fanbase, we should cheer him anyway.

I agree, but I won't hate him. I just don't want him to do good cause he's on the Yankees.

Re: Youk a Yankee!
Do the Yankees know they should be trying to get younger, not older?

Jacko's spin should be very interesting on this matter.

Re: Youk a Yankee!
I liked Youk for most of the time he was in Boston. I did have a problem with his attitude in Spring Training. He was signing autographs after practice and was complaining verbally. It was definitely not something little fans should have experienced. He was getting mad that people were calling his name and was having an attitude. After that, I lost some respect for the guy. I heard one little kid specifically say, "he is grumpy. He is not my favorite player anymore." He does make the effort to usually sign autographs after practice, but if you are going to get angry doing so, then don't waste your time if it is that big of a deal.
All of last year I was not a big Youk fan. I understand that he was a favorite player of several people, but you have to realize the circumstances. He was offered 12 million by the Yankees for one year. The next best offer was from the Indians for 2 years at 18 million. The Indians signed Mark Reynolds, so Youk was probably not going to be able to sign in Cleveland. The White Sox paid him 1 million to buy out the team option for 2013. He still is making all of his 13 million now for 2013, with the 1 million buyout and the 12 million contract. I give his agent a lot of credit. This game is a business and he took the best contract available. It sucks that he is going to be on a rival team, but from a business standpoint he made the right choice. The one year contract can give him a chance to build some value for the FA market for 2014. I could really care less about him going to the Yankees. It just gives me a reason to not like the guy presently, even though I respect him from his time he played in Boston.

These are my exact sentiments on the subject.
On a different note, I ran into a guy today at IKEA who noticed my Red Sox cap and started talking to me...He said he was a Yankees fan and named his daughter 'Jeter'

Re: Youk a Yankee!
Youks is in decline. They'll need to platoon him at 3B. Nobody else would give him $12 mil. They aren't getting the player of a few years ago. You wonder if the Yankees aren't in decline as well.

Re: Youk a Yankee!
Youk fits just fine at 1B or DHing but at 3rd is too risky at this point.

Re: Youk a Yankee!
I think considering the alternatives, Youk is the best available player for the role. I'm not crazy about him either, as he has always been that player that I loved to hate. But I'm sure he'll bring that same grit and passion to the Bronx, and hopefully I enjoy rooting for him this year as much as I enjoyed rooting against him in years past. Here's to hoping he has a huge year!
