Ya I really dislike him but he is a baller, Can't hate on him for that. But ya he will be gone in the first round because everyone will triple team him and there no one else on the team to fill in.

to bad he cant make those performance in the playoffs ' date=' where he'll be out of the first round again this year[/quote']

Seriously? The guy has three rings, man.

Posted
the guy has 3 ring ? yeah he does ' date=' shaq got it for him[/quote']

********... Shaq needed Kobe as much as Kobe needed Shaq. Sure, Shaq's had more success without Kobe -- but Shaq has NEVER been without an all-star guard.

I don't totally disagree but I'd rephrase that first part "Shaq needed Kobe, but not as much as Kobe needed Shaq." Up until last season I'd agree whole heartedly with what you said, but Shaq (albeit with a PHENOMINAL guard) won a ring without Kobe so that argument has lost some of it's legitamicy.

Dwyane Wade.

A lot of very good role players, too.

I don't think that does anything to disprove the argument.

NO, but what I mean is that Shaq could do it with others, and Kobe hasn't done it on his own like he thought he could. Kobe would have zero rings if it weren't for the Diesel.

He didn't just do it with others. He did it with another great player and a much better supporting cast than he had with the Lakers. Alonzo Mourning coming off of the bench.

Kobe hasn't had anywhere that good of a team around him. You'd have to add someone like Chris Bosh to the current Lakers roster for that to be even close to a fair comparison.

Don't forget the 1994-95 Orlando Magic who made it to the NBA finals on the shoulders of Shaq and Penny Hardaway.

Healthy Shaq + Star Guard (Opponents can't allow him to take over the game) + Decent supporting cast = NBA champions.

Know the biggest reason why the Heat won the Finals last year?

42

43

They won the NBA Finals on the back of some great, great performances by Dwyane Wade.

Penny Hardaway was an All-NBA First Team player the year they went to the Finals. Shaq has had a top 5 guard everywhere he's played at. Give Kobe a great big man to work with and we'll talk.

streak is over but still scored 43 ..... and the kobe - jordan argument is starting again .. wich i dont know why cause its not even close jordan> kobe

Doesn't matter anyway because Wilt > Jordan

Ehhh I dunno about that. Bill Russell was always the thorn in Wilt's side....can't really think of anyone who was like that for MJ.

what I find amazing is Jordan wins 3 in a row. Takes 2 yrs off essentially and then wins 3 in a row again. With the competition in the 90s being what it was vs what Wilt faced, Jordan was a man among men while Wilt was a man among boys. Jordan was unbelievable.

I think we can all agree that if Jordan didn't take two years off the Bulls win 8 straight and guys like Cassell and Olajuwon don't have rings.

There were, like, 12 hall of famers on the Celtics during that dynasty. It was hardly all Bill Russell. You can't fault the guy for playing in the same era as the greatest dynasty in professional sports history.

Think about how insane 50 points and 25 rebounds a game for an entire season is.

I was a pretty big knicks fan before I kinda stopped watching the NBA and nobody ever gave me a feeling that my team had no chance like Jordan. Even with Ewing and a perennial 50 win team, the knicks had ZERO chance against Jordan. I have never felt that way about one athlete in any sport. he was the only one.

Reggie Miller: Knick killer

Posted
Touche.

I definetely understand what you're saying. But Reggie Miller in MSG -- oh man. He's got some all-time great performances there.

With all due respect to Reggie Miller we did atleast beat the Pacers three times that I remember (93, 94, 99). We never ever beat a JORDAN led Bulls team. Btw Miller's 8 points in 8.9 seconds ranks up there in my all time worst sports moments.

Hah, yeah, I was with my grandparents (from NY) for that one. Touch to watch.

There weren't any great NBA players in the 60's? News to me...

He only had to play against guys like Elgin Baylor, Bill Russell, Oscar Robertson, Nate Thurmond, Bob Pettit, Walt Bellamy, and Willis Reed. Those were better than the big men we've had in the league for a long time.
