Let me say that in a more reasonable fashion: Roger Clemens has decided to pitch for the New York Yankees this year.

I'm sorry, I was just really excited.

No, actually, as opposed to to the media from his house, or via his agent.

f*** that douche. clearly he wants money over a championship

What the f*** are you smoking? You're in denial if you think Boston has a better shot at a title. Just wait until the Yankees get healthy.

Um...what? No, as opposed to doing it in a less-dramatic way. It was pretty cool to be honest.

knew this would happen. Ahh well f*** him we dont need him. Besides hes been in the NL for what like 3 years now. It will take a while to adjust.

I still think we are a better team. Our lineup while not as powerful has shown to be just as deep on some nights. Our bullpen is better, Papelbon is better than Rivera. Even with Clemens I still think our rotation is better. Roger has just ruined his chance to ever be welcomed back at Fenway Park. Clemens is 44, and he averaged only 6 innings a start in the NL last year. Thats probably like 5 innings a start in the AL east.

even when they're healthy their pitching is still a major question mark, even with Clemens

I just wonder how much they paid him...

its gotta be a crazy amount if he pushed up his return announcement by 3 weeks. maybe $30 million pro-rated

Are you serious? Our rotation will be better if DiceK can live up to his billing. I would rather have Schill Beckett and Wake more than Clemens right now. What has changed since Clemens posted a 3.90 Era in 03? 4 years of age. Clemens is going to probably post a 4.00 ERA in the AL east. Which don't get me wrong will improve their chances, but it by no means makes them the AL east favorites.

exactly what i was thinking when nesn first announced it. it must have been a whole hell of a lot to get him to announce his decision already

Less than the 103 million you paid for Matsuzaka.

Wang, Clemens, Pettitte, Mussina, Hughes...

I guess George figured that instead of getting a good manager, he would change his roster and give the manager the five solid starters that make him a manager of the year candidate, lol.

Maybe the Red Sox still have a shot at the wild card...

He's been amazing the last 3 years?

I don't think Clemens will be as good as he was with Houston, but he will be a substantial upgrade over Darrell Rasner, Kei Igawa, and Matt DeSalvo.

His ERA's on the Yankees aren't even that great. He won't be a dominant AL East pitcher, but he will be effective.

4.60

3.70

3.51

4.35

3.91

Yeah but Coco, that was before he got on the performace enhancing drugs.
