I just gained about 100 times more respect for AGon. How he does it, I don't know. I don't know if I could keep playing ball so far away from my son if he has been in a coma for 2 years.

"How do you catch a knuckleball? Wait until it stops rolling, then go to the backstop and pick it up."
Wow, that is sad. I always look at baseball players and wish I could live their lifes, figuring their lives aren't bad at all and they really have no struggles and are always happy. I'm so wrong though. I really respect him for being able to go out there day after day the way he does even with such a heavy burden on his heart.
It has to be tough, but from the sounds of it, his son will never not be in a coma.
Hal sucks
That is what is even more amazing. AGon is playing the way he is, knowing his son will probably never come out of it..Originally Posted by jacksonianmarch;485934;

Yeah, but it also speaks to a relative uneducated attitude towards it from his perspective. I could go on and on about how unethical keeping this child's body alive is. How painful it could be for a kid with nearly no brain activity except for his brainstem (which has some primitive pain sensors). And how insane it is to keep this child on vent support for the next decade or so only to see him succumb to infection or blood clots when there is no hope. He had his chance to make peace with this a long time ago. Unfortunately, that chance is gone now and the humane aspect of it has passed as well. It is a similar decision many people hope they never have to make, but often do at some point in their lives. The decision to prolong life at any cost is oftentimes not in the best interest of the patient. So overall, I do not feel bad for AGon. The time to feel bad for him was 2 yrs ago when this unfortunate event happened to this innocent child. I feel absolutely terrible for this child who could be going through unspeakable, undetectable pain on a second to second basis.Originally Posted by RWTP24;485938;

Seriously.
Do you have kids?
Do you have any idea how fucking horrible it must be for a parent to pull the plug on an infant?
I suggest you STFU and GTFO and stop the holier than thou attitude, because you have no right whatsoever to judge.
WAR is good for something.
How do we know what the doctors are telling him? I am sure at first they told him he could come out of it, so therefore, he is going to hope and pray and keep him alive hoping he comes out of it. Hell, they could still be telling him that, we will never know the real reason.Originally Posted by jacksonianmarch;485953;

Exactly the kind of response I expected from someone who knows absolutely nothing about this. Absolutely nothing.Originally Posted by Dipre;485956;

That just sounds heartless to me. A life is a life, and if you can keep someone alive, then why the fuck not? Do you even understand how hard it would be to have to pull the plug on someone who you brought into this world? I could not imagine the pain that it would cause. I'm not a mother, and I haven't had kids yet, and I probably won't for another 4-5 years, but I know right now that if my child was in this same position, I would do whatever it takes.Originally Posted by jacksonianmarch;485953;
That is kind of what I was thinking, but I did not want to go off. I was trying to be nice about it.Originally Posted by Dipre;485956;
Good for you.

But again, who the fuck do you think you are?
You have no right to judge, because you're not in their shoes. It's so easy to stand on the outside and run your mouth, but if it happened to you, you'd probably clinch to any glimmer of hope that was offered, because the pain of losing a loved one is something that science cannot measure.

I really thought this was kind of heartless. ^Originally Posted by Emmz;485940;

I don't agree with keeping someone alive, just because you can. I'm not saying I don't feel bad for AGon, and I realize how tough a decision it is to pull the plug. I also don't blame him for keeping his son alive. But if Jacko is correct, and the child is suffering from excruciating pain and has no chance of waking up, pulling the plug might not be the worst idea.Originally Posted by Emmz;485960;
