    What's your point?

That stating that the Sox "walked away from the Tex negotiations" is a fallacy.

None of us were there. And the probable cause for them to have backed off was the Yankee factor.
    WAR is good for something.

True...none of us were there. So none of us knew what really happened.

However, from the reports of what we read, the Tex negotiations were bungled when Henry went down there to try to seal the deal.

Here is but one link of many on the deal.

    http://mlb.fanhouse.com/2008/12/19/a...ned-between-r/

If this link is to be believed [and I realize that since none of us were there, we won't know for sure], the Yankees signed Tex for LESS than what the Red Sox offered. As for whether they walked away or not, this is what Henry said:

"We met with Mr. Teixeira and were very much impressed with him," Henry said. "After hearing about his other offers, however, it seems clear that we are not going to be a factor."
Now...lets say that the final offer the Red Sox made was 8 years, 160 million.

The Yankees signed him for 8 years, 180 million.

    That's a difference of 20 million in 8 years, or 2.5 million a year.

    Would you make this trade?

    Mark Teixeira
    Justin Masterson
    Nick Hagadone
    Bryan Price

    for

    Victor Martinez
    2.5 million

    They dropped the ball.

You are the one who dropped the ball. :harhar::harhar:
