    The problems with TalkSox.

So yeszir poured his time and money into creating this site.

He has asked many times for the fighting and trolling to stop. Even though we're all (speaking about the regulars) at fault for the current state of things, i believe an analysis of the situation is in order, since to keep the permissive and "fun" nature of the board, the strictness that would lead to better behavior has been sacrificed.

The mod team really doesn't deserve the shitstorm this site has become most of the time, and from the outside looking in during my ban, i noticed a lot of the problems going on around here, some of the usual perpetrators (who shall remain nameless) and some quotes of their "contributions" to the site.

Don't get me wrong, i can be an asshole to the millionth degree, but i have found myself trying to modify my behavior several times, only to go back to being a douche out of sheer frustration, and this is a sentiment shared by many other posters who used to be very active and either don't post as much or are sick of the behavior exhibited by certain members.

I don't want people to take this the wrong way, i'm not specifically "calling out" any of the people i'm going to quote (even though i feel entitled to, seeing as some of them are part of the main reason i simply don't feel like posting anymore). Whoever wants to say i'm a hypocrite or i'm trying to start shit, have at me. That is honestly not the intent of this thread. But let me tell you, seeing as how some people took their cowardly shots while i was banned, if i felt the desire to call people out, i would have every right to do so, even though this is not the case in this instance.

Look Kennedy is what he is, I acknowledge that. But he was very highly touted as a college pitcher and when he was drafted and coming up. He was rushed a bit with surely affected his development, but I don't see why we're arguing about this. Projections don't mean anything in the end, so Red Sox fans getting angry at the fact that Kennedy was projected to be just as good or better than Lester shouldn't be an issue, because as things have turned out that obviously isn't the case.

What's the deal? Sometimes I feel like some people on here just enjoy arguing. If that's the case go to law school and do something productive with your argumentative personalities. Because it gets so unbelievably annoying on a message board.
This is a discussion board. People come here to talk and discuss their favorite team, if you don't like that, you're probably posting in the wrong place, specially if you're not a fan of the Red Sox, which is the team for which this site was created. This person is not, as the quote says, a defense attorney, and this is not a court room.

A little off-topic, but still on the Yankees/Sox topic, these videos further cement themselves as proof that Red Sox Nation hates the Yankees more than they love the Red Sox. Kinda sad if you ask me, you would think after two championships you guys would have gotten over it.

Lol before anyone gets their panties in a bunch, I'm not trying to stir up any trouble, they just gave me a little chuckle so figured I would share.
No matter what team you cheer for, if you exhibit an unwarranted sense of entitlement and superiority, you're going to rub people the wrong way. And taking the personal insult way after being called out on it is not the correct course of action either.

Just like when you criticized the Yankees bench so much
It's possible to make a post without sounding like you're trying to piss people off. The smileys don't help at all.

All Yankee bench players are better than that scum. Wanna know a good bench player in the Sox? Scutaro, oh wait! He's your starting SS.
This is a board for baseball discussion, not trolling and inciteful behavior.

    Thumbs up to Keeper

    Fuck you to Emmz
Drunk posting does not excuse a personal attack of this nature to a fellow poster.

The "drinking" issue is a subject which i'm going to issue a mini-rant:

    1) Drinking a lot and being drunk does not make you cool.

    2) Driving after drinking more than 0 beers is stupid. Do not drink and drive. The fact that you "think" you can take X amount of beers or shots is what usually results on the loss of human lives, usually not the drunk drivers'.

    3) College is not for drinking and wasting your parents' hard-earned money. It's to make something of yourself. I went through college and i never missed class, an assignment, or anything for being drunk. And i partied and drank just like any regular guy (my diabetes can attest to that).

Rant not directed at one poster in particular, but to remind many of this site's posters that drinking a not a good, cool thing. It's a problem.

Are emmz and diaper in a long disance relationship?
    What does this mean?

Who entitles someone else to take a shot at someone's (two people in this case) personal lives. Not to mention calling names. Dipre is my last name, and i don't appreciate having it made fun of. Perhaps i should find out your real last name (easy) and make fun of it in every subsequent post i ever direct your way?

I believe this would call for a little soul searching. Joke or not, nothing entitles to attack other people on a personal basis, specially on such a specific manner.

    This is actually sickening behavior.

Enjoy work, tying up clients seems to be a forte of yours. Must suck to be a male escort
The poster who this post refers to challenges your opinion, not your person. Why the vicious personal attack?

What makes you feel entitled to attack another person's job situation, race, education, or the place where they live?

This poster basically forces people to attack him personally by instigating, baiting and attacking other posters, and then plays the victim card.

like two peas in a moron pod
Again, more personal attacks. Unnecesary. Same poster.

You dont work do you? Its the exact same reason why employers dont give any negative feedback as references for future employment.
    Really?

Again, what entitles you to attack another person on such a personal level.

Not an isolated incident. Same poster.

    No, its more:

"You dont have a basic understanding of the working world, so you mustnt be old enough to have a job."
More unnecessary personal attacks. Same poster.

the problem is that a lot of the level headed posters on this site have diminished their posting and we have the new tainted blood posting. Over time, some will calm down into good posters, some will get bored, and others banned. Its the way things are
Since you're the same poster as the above quotes, i'd go ahead and say that part of the reason that the "level headed" posters don't post here anymore is because of actions as immature as the ones displayed above.

I suggest re-assessing where does the term "tainted blood" apply here, because joining on another team's message board to try and prevent said team's fans from ever feeling any sort of satisfaction about anything related to their team is pathetic. If someone has been banned before for exhibiting this kind of behavior, how much water do his arguments hold?

    Stop being an argumentative douchebag.
If you don't like another poster's argumentative position, or you don't like the other poster at all, there are better ways to convey your displeasure. No need to get personal, specially if the argument isn't against you, or if said poster has never presented an aggressive stance against you.

I will make a subsequent post in the NFL thread, and afterwards, i'll resume my lurking ways. I'll go the Rdsxmbnt way and stop posting until some of the issues (for which i am very much to blame as well) are at least partially resolved. And by resolved, i don't mean the moderating team, i mean the posters. There's simply no need for this place to be a warzone. We can have discussions without being assholes, all it takes is a bit of maturity and understanding what "Attack the post, not the poster" really means.

I apologize for much of my earlier behavior, and i'll make no excuses, but it's really hard to have fun when you're faced with situations like this. "Live amongst animals, become one".

Lol I wonder who you were taking those pot shots at??? you have no right telling me how to run my life. You do not know me, so it's sloppy for you to make assumptions about who I am or what I do.

Stop taking this so serious and personal though. It's a message board.

That's very ironi and typical. You've found it necessary to harass me over the past few months and even question my relationship status. You're the one who can't help but be immature and post drunk.

It's a joke. Like I said before, some people take this way too seriously.

    Re: The problems with TalkSox.

Since joining Talksox last April, I've joined several other boards. 6 to be exact.

Other than a Cardinal's site where no one other than Cards fan were accepted, Talksox remains the only board where I see members constantly attacking one and other. I don't understand why so many feel the need to be rude and confrontational to others that simply do not share a like opinion. Attacking others on a board is really immature and not an acceptable form of behavior in real life. It should be no different here.

Dipre is not alone in his view here. I communicate regularly with many other posters that share his opinion. Everyone should at least try to act as a civil human being. Regardless of life circumstances or age.
"Hating the Yankees like it's a religion since 94'" RIP Mike.

"It's also a simple and indisputable fact that WAR isn't the be-all end-all in valuations, especially in real life. Wanna know why? Because an ace in run-prevention for 120 innings means more often than not, a sub-standard pitcher covering for the rest of the IP that pitcher fails to provide. You can't see value in a vacuum when a player does not provide full-time production."

Ditto this and what Dipre said. We come here to share our opinions. It is really hard to be a civil poster when being attacked, hence shitstorms begin. As Dipre said, this is a message board. We come hear to express our opinions. We are not here to be defense attorneys. I have been an attorney for more than 25 years. It comes naturally for me to debate a point with logic based on evidence, statistical or circumstantial. I am sure that this has been a source of frustration for many posters. I'd prefer not to engage in such exchanges. However, I engage in it in response to one of the more obnoxious tactics on this site -- the prove it mentality. I constantly remind people of that I am expressing an opinion. Yet, people continue to use statistics as irrefutable proof of one player being superior to another player, etc.-- in today's game and across generations.

While statistics are interesting and worthy of consideration, they are usually conclusive of nothing. In the words of Vin Scully who has been watching the gaaamez for 60+ years:

"Statistics are used much like a drunk uses a lamppost: for support, not illumination."

I come here to express my "opinions". Often I support them with statistics. If you think I am wrong, feel free to counter it with your own "opinion" with or without supporting statistics, but let's not forget that these are opinions not facts. I particularly despise the "prove it mentality" when we are discussing potential player moves. For instance, if I say that the Sox needed to get an outfielder or some other position, it is ridiculously obnoxious and stupid to respond with a challenge to me to name who was available at those positions. How the hell would anyone know with any certitude who was available-- from reading rumors from the likes of twits like Ken Rosenthal? Saying they "should have" gotten someone is different than saying the "could have" gotten someone. Debate why you don't think we needed someone to play the OF, etc. Asking a poster to prove who we could have obtained is absurd. This is opinion. So, please stop acting like we are establishing facts with our opinions. This is not the place for it, and most of you are so bad at it that it makes for frustratingly boring reading.

    Re: The problems with TalkSox.

dipre grow some balls and attatch my name to the quotes if you're going to criticize me. If anyone is being cowardly, it's you. You just got reinstated from your ban and already you're at it again?

    Just leave it alone man.

LOL When have you tried to modify your behaivor? I must have missed that. Also, frustration isn't an excuse for these actions. If drunk people don't get an excuse, then why do people who are frustrated?

I don't want people to take this the wrong way, i'm not specifically "calling out" any of the people i'm going to quote (even though i feel entitled to, seeing as some of them are part of the main reason i simply don't feel like posting anymore). Well then what do you call it?
Point me in the direction of a "cowardly shot" I took at you. The only thing that could even be slightly construed in that manner would be LOLing at the thread asking if you and emmz were in a long distance relationship. I didn't take any shots at you, I was just amused by that thread.
This is a discussion board. The post that you quoted was an attempt to end the unnecessary argument in that thread. You hit the nail on the head, this is a place to TALK and DISCUSS their favorite teams, not argue with anyone who disagrees. You may not realize this, but there is a difference between discussion and arguing. Also, I never claimed to be a defense attorney, and I never said this was a court room. I said with how often people argue here and their apparent enjoyment of arguing they should consider law school and keep it off the board. How did you misinterpret that so badly?

Get a grip man, you're being absolutely ridiculous. For you to call me out, being that I as much as anybody has toned down my negative actions that have hampered this site, while you've continued being a part of the problem, resulting in your temporary ban is a joke. What's even funnier is that you've JUST been reinstated and you're at it again. Initially I was against your ban, but after seeing how much better the site was without all of your negative input, and the fact that you're right back at it again perhaps a permanent ban would be best for everybody.

Get your shit together and stop being a spineless coward. Your "anonymous" quotes just caused me to greatly lose what little respect I had left for you.

This is nothing more than a thinly veiled call out thread. You act as if you're fixing a problem but you're doing nothing more than throwing gas onto the fire.
