    Henry Owens

Henry Owens had another great outing tonight going 5ip 0h 3bb 0er 10k.

Since he has been called up to double a he has pretty much continued to dominate. In his last six outings he has had 3 outings where he didn't surrender a hit. His line over those six starts is pretty amazing

    33 2/3 ip 12 h 16bb 6er 55k.

The walks are obviously high but with more time he looks to have some plus stuff and hopefully a good future.

I hope that I get to see this kid in Spring Training in 2014.

I saw Owens pitch on Tuesday (7-1) in Trenton. He didn't have his best stuff, but still only allowed two runs over 6 innings. I think he remains in AA this year and will start next year at AAA.

Henry Owens pitched for one of the Huntington Beach, Calif. high schools not that far from my backyard if the Freeways are clear. He was a helluva pitcher in high school and might be a future stalwart for us. Still, I'd love for the Red Sox to get out the cashbox, sign Lester to an extension and have him pitch for us another five years and monitor Owens as he breaks in and develops into what might turn out to be a top notch pitcher. Good lefties don't grow on trees.

Hopefully the link works. This was Henry's first start in Pawtucket last night. 9ks. He just looks like he's really hard to hit. I recommend watching the videos of his and swiharts interviews post game as well. Neither of them has the deer in headlights factor that seems to challenge Webster. In face, Swiharts interview is really quite impressive. I can see why they like his make up so much. Future (current) leadership potential there.

    Swihart: http://www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.j...nt_id=35088161

Owens seems a bit detached in every interview, but also looks like he's probably pretty oblivious. That's not a bad thing on the big stage.

Finally here's the paw sox manager talking about his debut performance. I think this is someone we should be excited about.

I think the earliest we see him is July 2015. It is before that then are starting pitching is a mess and the Sox had to rush him.
