    CC possibly out for Season

Yankees hurler C.C. Sabathia has suffered a setback in his efforts to rehab a degenerative condition in his right knee and may now require microfracture surgery, as ESPNNewYork.com’s Andrew Krammer was among those to report. Manager Joe Girardi said that, at present, it is “fair to say” that Sabathia will likely not return this year.

Sabathia will pay another visit to Dr. James Andrews on July 14th for an assessment. “[Surgery] is always a possibility when you have a degenerative knee,” said Girardi. “I’m not exactly sure if he was to have surgery what it would be, that’s yet to be determined.”
Big guy like CC and Microfracture knee surgery? It's gonna be hard for the Yanks to count on him for anything in the last 2 years of his deal. Work horses in their mid 30's are absolute crap shoots imo in today's game. It's one of the reasons I don't want the Sox to go more then 5 years on any Lester offer.

B-b-b-but the Yankees might poach him!! Ensuring that the Yankees don't prosper is much more important than ensuring the well-being of our own franchise!

Top pitching is the most valuable commodity in baseball. The pattern has been for teams to retain their aces. If the Mariners can keep King Felix and the Tigers keep their aces and the Giants extended their guys, we can keep Lester. Letting a stud like him walk in his prime would not be smart. Letting your chief competitor poach him would compound the bad decision. Winning the division is the big goal now that the Wild Card is a 1 game crap shoot. Letting the Yankees take your most valuable commodity to help them beat you for 4 or 5 years would not be smart business.

He needed this 6 weeks ago. I'm glad he is having this done. If this procedure doesn't work, then his career is over. At least the Yanks can collect insurance on his ass.
    Hal sucks
