Why didn't I come here before

I like the format, options available, and intuitive navigation of the forum. I also appreciate that the forum is moderated as every sports site should be.

I came from the Boston Globe BDC forums which will be shut down at the end of May. I spent most of my time previously at the Red Sox Front Burner Room. From the start there, about ten years ago, the trolls prevailed and generated the traffic , were embraced and enabled by the forum members, and permitted by those in charge. My nature was to debate them and question their presence in a Red Sox forum. It became apparent that most of then were not indeed Red Sox fans at all. They were only there for entertainment and Internet fraternity / friendship. In effect, it was their daily club meeting to come to whether in retirement or at their do-nothing desk job.

Anyway I like this forum and plan to stay here. It is a breath of fresh air and a new beginning. I have been a Red Sox fan since the 1950s and listened to them on the radio for twenty years before they were on cable TV. Watched almost every game on Ch 35, NESN, and satellite TV over the years. Have suffered through all of the huge disappointments and was ecstatic in the WS titles of 2004, 2007, and 2013.

Okay, first of all, none of this answers the question of why you didn't come here before. Second of all, I don't know if you saw my post in the welcome thread for BDC members, but we really don't want to immediately clutter the board with complaints about a site that is due to not exist in a few weeks. There is no reason other than a desire to stir up old arguments to continue to complain about past events or other users from the BDC boards. That is all over, this is TalkSox and we are not, were not, and will not be involved in that. This is the last time I'm going to explain that. Please do not bring up your problems with other boards again. And once again, welcome to TalkSox.

    - From the 2004 ALCS Game 4 Gamethread. A reminder that no game is over until the final out is recorded, and things will always get better. Misspellings unchanged as a reminder that Yankees fans are just terrible.

I agree with you on that. I just had to give you a synopsis on why BDC was shut down and why so many at the Red Sox Front Burner left in recent years. It became a fraternity unto themselves comprised of Yankee fans, Red Sox haters, and those just there to be entertained daily. John Henry deserves a round of applause for terminating the Red Sox forum. No more from me on this. Thanks for your patience.
