The scene in Miami was so emotionally charged, I don't know how they played.

I have never been a fan of Maddingly (sp ). In fact I don't think that I have ever given him much thought at all.

Today and tonight I was very touched and impressed by his comments.
"Hating the Yankees like it's a religion since 94'" RIP Mike.

"It's also a simple and indisputable fact that WAR isn't the be-all end-all in valuations, especially in real life. Wanna know why? Because an ace in run-prevention for 120 innings means more often than not, a sub-standard pitcher covering for the rest of the IP that pitcher fails to provide. You can't see value in a vacuum when a player does not provide full-time production."

Just saw the Marlins highlights and literally got choked up.... the tribute they did at the end throwing their hats in and showing half the team crying was a strong moment.... Life can be very crazy at times.

It's very tragic. I'm afraid when all the details are known it's going to make us very angry, because I'm guessing this was an aquatic version of a drunk driving tragedy. I'm not going to pass judgment because I too got behind the wheel after drinking when I was in my late teens and early twenties. But it is what it is, a senseless loss of life.

The initial reports were that there were no drugs/alcohol involved, and for the sake of those affected, I hope that remains true, but it's hard to imagine how this could have happened without being under the influence of something.

What I've read so far is that he got into an argument with his GF and was very emotional. Let's hope that was the trigger and not drugs/alcohol.
    We miss you Mike.

So now the Coroner's report shows his alcohol level almost twice the legal limit and significant Cocaine in his system.

This was predictable, given where and how he crashed.

    Still sad, though.
