Boston/Yankees July 2017 Visit

Greetings from Texas Redsox fan!

My wife and I are planning a trip for the Redsox/Yankees game in July. We'll be spending 3-4 nights and make at least one game and would like to watch one at a popular local bar too. In addition we would like to tour Boston. I'm looking for an ideal hotel that allows easy travel throughout and near a lot of sites (historical, entertainment, etc.) Any suggestions on must dos or see is appreciated too.

Honestly, Boston is a VERY small town. Any hotel in Boston proper would be close enough to anything you'd want to do.
