Salem box score is becoming a daily must see with Chavis, Ockimeny and Kemp.
Keeping an eye on my boy in Portland, Jake Cosart, started slow, with a lot of walks, but starting to bring it. 15 innings with 23 BB's is not going to cut it. But has only allowed 6 hits. Jumped 2 leagues last year, and promoted to Portland this year. This is where you see if he has it to be future closer in Boston.
Last year 70 innings with 104 K's, he has the arm.
You got that right!
Chavis (148 AB)
.365 12 40 (.440/.716/1.157
Ockimey (153 AB)
.314 6 41 (.425/.503/.928)
Kemp (79 AB)
.367 2 12 (.420/.608/1.028) plus 10 2B+3Bs
at Portland...
Devers (148 AB)
.291 7 24 (.354/.493/.847)
Tavarez (61 AB)
.377 1 6 (.473/.475/.948)
Lin (93 AB)
.323 3 9 (.411/.484/.895)
System is definitely performing better then I thought. It's not as barren as it seemed.
Devers has fallen off a bit. Same with Torres after his promotion. Might behoove some fans to pump the brakes on the kid to see if he can handle Pawtucket before Fenway.
Hal sucks
The demise of Devers was brief. Scorching hot the last 10 games, .368 with 3 bombs.
it's nearing time to send him to AAA.
Chavis hit his 15th HR last night- breaking a record for Salem. He has 50 RBI in 50 games (190 ABs).
Devers went 2 ofr 4 with an HR and a BB.
Swihart was 2 for 3 with a BB & HBP.
Allen Craig reached base 4 times.
Tzu-Wei Lin went 3 for 4 with an HR and 2 doubles.
"Hating the Yankees like it's a religion since 94'" RIP Mike.
"It's also a simple and indisputable fact that WAR isn't the be-all end-all in valuations, especially in real life. Wanna know why? Because an ace in run-prevention for 120 innings means more often than not, a sub-standard pitcher covering for the rest of the IP that pitcher fails to provide. You can't see value in a vacuum when a player does not provide full-time production."
Not sure what they are waiting for on promoting Devers and Chavis.
Iguess the coaching at Portland may be better suited for bringing along Devers' defense, and with devers staying at Portland, I can see why they don't move Chavis up to Portland.
I'd just like to see, maybe for selfish reasons, how Devers and Chavis hit at a higher level. If the plan is to bring Devers up in September, or earlier if there is an injury, then why not let him face some older pitchers closer in skill level to MLB pitching?
