    5/18 Oakland

Tonight was supposed to be Chris Sale night, instead we got trick, not treat.

In Sale's place is the debut of Velazquez. My streak is on the line, so send lots of good vibes and mojo.

Giving credit it where it's due, this has been maybe the best 2 game winning streak I can remember and certainly this season to date. It could not have come at a better time.

Velazquez is 28 and from the Mexican League and has a 1.55 ERA in five starts for Pawtucket. The "A's" are ranked 26th in runs scored.

I hope that we can get some decent performance out of Velazquez. Maybe he will give us reason to smile like Danial Nava did when he finally made it to the bigs.

I know that it is wishful thinking but I like to believe that good things can happen once in a while.

"It's also a simple and indisputable fact that WAR isn't the be-all end-all in valuations, especially in real life. Wanna know why? Because an ace in run-prevention for 120 innings means more often than not, a sub-standard pitcher covering for the rest of the IP that pitcher fails to provide. You can't see value in a vacuum when a player does not provide full-time production."

Sonny Gray has a .520 FIP and his K% is down. Let's beat up on this dink.

Iam more concerned with Benni and 3rd base. Nobody seen the new guy yet. If he's not too jumpy I think he''ll be OK. I imagine Vazquez will catch him so they can communicate. The Pawtucket numbers are encouraging.
