Per sources, Yankees have acquired Robertson, Frazier, Kahnle for several minor leaguers - most notably last year's 1st rounder Blake Rutherford.

    • Gray to the Yankees is “somewhere between likely to inevitable,” according to Sherman, who reports that the trade could happen Sunday. An executive who has been involved in Gray talks told Sherman that the Yankees are “holding firm” in what they’re willing to offer because they’re not convinced there are any other serious bidders. In case their negotiations with the A’s collapse, the Yankees are discussing starters with other teams as fallback options, per Sherman.

I think Gray will do well going forward. I'm hoping the Yanks don't get him.

The Cubs are finalizing a deal to acquire two more pieces for the stretch run. If the swap is finalized, both southpaw reliever Justin Wilson and catcher Alex Avilawill reportedly head from the Tigers to Chicago in exchange for infielder Jeimer Candelario and young shortstop Isaac Paredes, along with cash or a player to be named later.

The Cubs aren't messing around. You're seeing the top teams in an arms race here. The Stros need to make a splash in their rotation and I wouldn't count the Dodgers out from getting some Kershaw insurance. If the prices rise out of control, I'd be fine with NYY staying out of it. Plenty of teams with good farms seem to be making one last effort to stay on top. We can always just flash the cash and get Darvish at the end of the year

3:30pm: Three prospects will head to Texas, per ESPN.com’s Buster Olney (via Twitter). Second baseman/outfielder Willie Calhoun looks to be the headliner, per MLB.com’s Jon Morosi (Twitter link). The other two pieces are righty A.J. Alexy and infielder Brendon Davis, Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports tweets.
