Thread: Knee Surgery

    Knee Surgery

My wife blew out her ACL and meniscus and is having surgery this week.

I know there is no two injuries that are the same, or surgeries, or healing time. But I'm wondering if any of you have had the surgery, or know anyone who has. And if you have any suggestions or know about things to expect?
Everybody here is out of sight
They don't bark, and they don't bite
They keep things loose, they keep things light
Everybody was dancin' in the moonlight

Make sure she does whatever PT she's given and she'll be fine.

Sorry to hear this about your wife. I wish her the best.

Get a real surgeon, the best in your area. Goto the best hospital.

And as Soxncycles says, follow the PT to the T.

That is the most difficult aspect of the operation.

The drugs are the best but you won't be allowed to have them very long.

Best of luck to the Wifeypoo.

"It's also a simple and indisputable fact that WAR isn't the be-all end-all in valuations, especially in real life. Wanna know why? Because an ace in run-prevention for 120 innings means more often than not, a sub-standard pitcher covering for the rest of the IP that pitcher fails to provide. You can't see value in a vacuum when a player does not provide full-time production."

12 thousand dollars will be paid to rent out the place for the surgery, which should take about 2 hours. Luckily insurance kicked in. But 12 thousand dollars just to rent out the location, you gotta be joking me. That doesn't include surgeon fees or the drug guy.

    It's definitely a racket.
Be thankful you didn't need an ambulance.
I got a $1000 bill for a 15 min, 1/4 mile ambulance ride from a rehab hospital to the main hospital ER.

My insuance took care of the majority of it, except for the ambulance bills.
Evidently, they know what a racket it is and wont pay for it.

What do you mean about renting the place for the surgery? Isn't this being done in a hospital or medical facility?

It is a medical facility. It's called a surgery center. Mainly it's just a location that has rooms to do surgeries, prep and post rooms also. So you pay for the surgeon, the drug guy, the PT person, and rent out the surgery center. None of those people work for the surgery center, they only have nurses.

I had to pay for the same thing two years ago when I had knee surgery.

I was off on how much it cost, pretty tired this morning. But it was 8 thousand just to rent the room, for about 4 to 5 hours of use. We pay only 20 percent as insurance has kicked in.

    Oh, that's different. That's a bargain!
