    Uber

Anyone had experience, good or bad? I signed up because I thought I would get stranded on a recent trip, but didn't have to use it. I get the feeling it could be sketchy A.F. sometimes.

I have signed up but have never used it.

"It's also a simple and indisputable fact that WAR isn't the be-all end-all in valuations, especially in real life. Wanna know why? Because an ace in run-prevention for 120 innings means more often than not, a sub-standard pitcher covering for the rest of the IP that pitcher fails to provide. You can't see value in a vacuum when a player does not provide full-time production."

Signed up a month or two ago because I had no way to get home from the bus station in Hartford when I got back on the Greyhound from Boston. I've used it two or three times since then, to go to or from that same bus station and once to get to work when my car was in the shop.

It cost me a fraction of what a cab would have, the drivers were more polite and weren't talking incredibly loudly on their speakerphone, the vehicles were cleaner, they drove less recklessly, and I didn't have to wait nearly as long for them to arrive when I called for one on the app. It actually took less time for them to get there than it usually takes me to get the cab dispatcher on the phone.

I won't use it all the time, but when I do need it, I'm glad it's there.

Interesting, since everything I heard was it's more expensive than a cab in a lot of places, and that's before the "dynamic pricing" (ie gouge you in a snowstorm). Thanks for the feedback, Youk.

Well, all of my Uber trips have been at non-peak hours and none of them were in big cities or heavy-traffic areas, so I don't know how typical my experience is.

I've used Uber a few times while on vacation in Pittsburgh, Chicago, Boston and Florida and all of the experiences have been smooth and easy. I've heard some bad stories but I've had 0 issues

Uber is cheaper than cab rides, and it will let you know when there is surge pricing.
