    Pomeranz vs Keuchel

My daughter turned 3 today. Win a game for her!

Please win. Poms gives us our best chance. If we drop this game the series is toast.

Today is a must win, simple. With Altuve in line-up, longest losing streak was 3, without him 5, this season. And he came back to stop the streak at 5.

Pedroia gotta stop fucking up. He ruined my appetite yesterday with his penchant for killing rallies.

We need him to get hot with the bat today.

We need the entire lineup to get hot.

"It's also a simple and indisputable fact that WAR isn't the be-all end-all in valuations, especially in real life. Wanna know why? Because an ace in run-prevention for 120 innings means more often than not, a sub-standard pitcher covering for the rest of the IP that pitcher fails to provide. You can't see value in a vacuum when a player does not provide full-time production."

Basically everything about yesterday sucked and made me feel sick. Sale obviously was garbage, and even though we had a few hits and Hanley looked pretty good last night the offense couldn't get runs on the board. I figured all along even with Sale pitching we would need likely 4 runs or more to win. We are playing one of the best offensive teams in the league. We won't shut them down to a run or 2. If we do great, but we should be going out there playing like our life is on the line. Even had Sale pitched a decent game I doubt we would have won. Poms will have to be magnificent today there is no other way around it. And we have to generate some runs for god sakes. 1 or 2 runs won't do it against Houston it's as simple as that.

    @iamjoonlee

Keuchel is v good vs. lefties, but:

Devers: 400/.474/1.074 vs. LHP in 50 AB

Young: .200/.310/.280 vs. LHP in 100 AB

    So Farrell: ????

    This.

That is really the only chance we have to win against these guys.... We won't win an offensive powerhouse competition as we found out last night. Poms needs at least 6 strong (pretty much shut down) innings for us to have a chance today.

    Is this really the L-up?

Farrell is not giving us a chance to win today. Young and Marrero suck with the bat. Farrell has to go.

Red Sox lineup: Rafael Devers sits for no apparent reason

The Red Sox are not fielding their best lineup against the Astros in Game 2 of the American League Divisional Series.

Manager John Farrell has penciled in seven right-handers for the Red Sox with left-handed Dallas Keuchel on the mound. Most egregiously, Rafael Devers is on the bench, with light-hitting Devin Marrero taking his place at third base. Chris Young, who was added to the playoff roster Thursday after Eduardo Nunez reaggravated his knee injury, is batting sixth and at DH. As a result, Hanley Ramirez is at first base and Mitch Moreland is on the bench.

Moreland has performed better against lefties this season than Young. The veteran first baseman is slashing .247/.341/.342 against southpaws, whereas Young is batting .200 with a .590 OPS. Devers, meanwhile, is batting .400 with an OPS north of 1.000 against left-handers. He didn’t look out of place Thursday, either, recording an RBI.

With those numbers in mind, the absence of Devers is mystifying.
