Thread: Draft Pick penalties

    Draft Pick penalties

Very interesting. Signing a QO in the past meant losing your top draft pick. That is no longer the case.

For teams who received revenue sharing money and don’t exceed the lux tax, they lose their third highest draft pick

For teams who didn’t receive revenue sharing money and did not exceed the lux tax (Red Sox are here) the signing team forfeits their 2nd highest pick and $500K worth of INTL money.

For teams who exceed the lux tax and are big markets (NYY here), the penalty is the second and fifth highest picks and $1mil of INTL money
    Hal sucks

I just read that if you sign 2 QO's guys, you lose your next highest, 3rd and 6th picks, is any additional International Pool money taken off too?
As of this moment if Sox sign a QO guy they lose a 2nd and 5th + $500,000, do they lose another $500,000 for an additional QO guy?

Just read Sean McAdam Sox are 11th in International Pool money at $462,000, can they sign a FA with a QO, if there is a $500,000 penalty if they did?
    1) Rangers 3.53 m 2) Yankees 3.25 m 3) Twins 3.25 m

Sorry that Flores passed away, they must have really liked him, he cost 3 million off the International Pool money.

It's a much smaller penalty to go after QO guys ... and I do think it is good for both sides. Teams are not stuck giving offers to guys they do not want to keep, and players have actual FA.

It’s a massive change. With the way the draft had been slotted, losing a #1 pick can ruin an entire draft. The pool will still be lowered, but at least now the biggest pool pick stays in play.

No. Second round only. We git under the cap. Remember?

Nobody loses a 1st round, even if they are over the limit. It may be moved down 10 slots in certain spending situations, but it is not "lost".
