    Cain to the Brewers

What is going on with the Brewers???

    They got Cain for 5/80

Some trade for one of their OF should be in the works.

At $80M/5, I guess we can dispell the rumors of owner collusion to drive salaries down.

MLBTR projected $70M/4, so it's about what was expected.

Wade Davis is the only other top 10 FA to sign, and he got more total money than projected, too.

I am surprised to see a 5 yr deal for a player whose game is based on athleticism at his age. He turns 32 in the first month of the season. They just locked him up until he is 36 yrs old. He will be a minus the last 2 years of that deal easy. Probably the last 3
    Hal sucks

Kinda reminds me of the fools who signed Ellsbury.

    Ouch.

The Brewers are dealing. I'm glad at least one team is.

Looks like you still gotta overpay for FA talent.

Ellsbury deal is even worst, in that deal the last 4 years

Yeah, contracts like Ellsbury and Crawford are exactly why 'the industry' is supposedly re-thinking contracts of that length...

You have to think Martinez is digging in his heels even deeper on his demand for six years now, and it's kind of hard to blame him.

Yes, the Ellsbury deal was worse.

I said at the time, "I wouldn't have paid him half that much."

He can "demand" all he wants. If nobody offers more than 4, that's what he'll settle on. My guess is he gets 5.

I didn't want him at all, is basically am "injury prone" version of Gardner, if you remove his 2011 season his numbers are not even good.

Although in fairness he was coming off a strong season (5.6 fWAR).
