    run support for Sale

Sadly at this rate, Sale may not reach the vicinity of a 20 win season.

Game #1 Rays pen blows 4 run lead result: no decision
Game #2 Marlins Sox score only 1 run in nine innings and win in extra innings result: no decision
Game #3 Yankees Sox score ton of runs result: W
Game #4 Orioles Sox 1 run in 5 innings result: no decision

At this rate, if he gets his normal 30 starts, he could end up with 7-8 W's and 0 L's with an ERA less than 2.

Has any pitcher ever won the Cy Young Award with fewer than 10 W's???????

Fewest wins for a Cy Young pitcher is 2 (Eric Gagne, 2003). Plenty of pitchers have on the award with fewer than 10 wins. All of them have been closers.

For a starting pitcher, the fewest wins is 13 (Felix Hernandez, 2010)...

Meh. I just want him to pitch well and he has done so. Run support is because he often goes against the other team’s best starter, which was the case today.

i dont care if he gets 34 no decisions as long as the team wins.
just like last year i did not care if he got the stupid 300k's as his arm was dead in October from it.
his personal stats are meaningless to me.
other names i have posted under: none

You basically need 4 months with 3 wins and 2 months with 4 wins. If he gets a win in each of his next two starts he'll be back on track; April would be a 3 win month with that.

This. While its cool if Sale has 20 wins, Cy Young, etc. Id rather he dominate in playoffs and the team win.

King Felix won a CY with a 13-12 record.

Voters are smarter about not chasing wins than they used to be. Felix won the Cy with 13 wins, and Zack Greinke won it with 16 wins on a 65 win team. Atrocities like the Welch over Clemens Cy Young is far less likely than it used to be.

Wins don't matter. Winning the game matters.

Besides his mound opponents, it could be that our offense doesn't feel the urgency to produce. Unlike our other starters, Sale doesn't seem to get behind, so hitters don't screw up their high caliber performance. (We're all like this, but many of us don't admit to it: when we gotta come through, we're somehow stronger)

I saw this with Clemens for many years.

Were you here for the "clutch" debate?
It's a mere moment in a man's life between the All-Star game and the Old Timer's game.

    Game #1: Fluke
Game #2: We were going up against Miami's #1. No matter how good or bad the other team is, a #1 is a #1.
    Game #3: Not an issue
Game #4: It was 37 fucking degrees, and we were playing Baltimore's #1. Shut the fuck up

Young man, you are certainly entitled to your views and opinion, but you might be wise to enroll in a Civility-101 course while matriculating at UConn.
