It could be a combination of all the things mentioned, but either way it doesn’t appear to have worked out. Like I said before that Gio wasn’t going to make, or break this season anyway for the Red Sox, and I don’t believe his injury is going to shake up JH to get on the phone with Brez all desperate, and ask what are we going to do now our season just went down the drain, and tell Brez to now go full throttle, and go out, and sign Monty, or Snell.
The list gives reason to not want to, with Gio being the cherry on top.
It's taken forever for them to create a system that generates homegrown starters, and we still are not sure it's gotten any better, recently.
We've basically survived off trading for aces and occasional success (usually short-lived) with signing some.
