    Clay Buchholz

    Age: 21
    Born: August 14, 1984
    Lumberton, TX
    Height: 6-3
    Weight: 190
    Bats: Left
    Throws: Right
    Drafted: 2005, 1st
    How Acquired: Draft
    College: Angelina Junior College
    High School: Lumberton HS (TX)
    ETA: 2009

Scouting Report: Buchholz has a mid-90s four-seam fastball, a two-seam fastball, a slider, curveball, and a circle change. Also played outfield at Angelina College after transferring from McNeese State.

Clay earned a permanent spot on my radar after last night's performance in an 8-1 win for Lowell over Vermont. I was already checking up on him periodically, but this line will earn more of my attention:

    3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 8 K

Here is what he's done in the 10-weeks (14 starts) since being drafted:

    0-1, 2.89 ERA, 9.4 K/9, 4.33 K/BB, 1.04 WHIP

Ignore the record since he rarely goes more than 3 innings.

Wow, Theo's doing a great job with the farm system. Michael Bowden's another one to watch also.

I was thinking that as that whole thing was going down... it's going to be difficult to cheer for this kid in light of what happened here.

Why don't you try reading the thread? Clay Buchholz is a Sox pitching prospect, and Crespo was posting his line from tonight. Like it or not, you will hear that name frequently in this forum due to his prospect status. And it has nothing to do with the window-licker that started shit with the board.

He is quickly moving up the prospect ranks in the sox system. He should be in Wilmington by at least mid year.

Do you think Bowden or Buchholtz will end up as the better Sox prospect?
