Oh please, Curt knew he was going to pitch the entire time. He just kept it out there (all of the speculation) for the media attention.
Jeter goes out there everyday and gives his all, does WHATEVER IT TAKES to win a game. Whether it be in April or in October.
Talking to you is like talking to a 5 year old. You cannot look beyond the laudry and separate thought from feeling. Schilling had to have experimental surgery, TWICE, to pitch in games 6 (ALCS) and 2 (WS). Let me say that again in case it didn't sink in, experimental surgery. Would Jeter have done the same thing? I'd be surprised if he didn't, but stop saying he has more heart than the entire Sox roster. First, it's just not true, and second, it makes you look really foolish. Although, you do that a lot, so I'm sure you're used to it by now.
One of the best parts of his SS game is the way he tracks pop-ups into the OF. But even assuming he is not a good OF, why is n't he playing 2B? Wasn't Cano a 3B in the minors? He is a terrible second baseman. Jeter at 2B and ARod at SS would be phenominal. PD will never let ARod have the position, especially since he needs one more HR to tie the record for SS
It's that type of thinking that will lead to a steady decline for the Yankees. I hope Yankee management has the same attitude. I can hardly wait to see him looking like Bernie in a few years. I hate to break the news to you, but PD is not and never was your franchise player, nor was he the heart of your latest Dynasty. The heart of the Yankees latest Dynasty was O'Neil, Tino, and Brosius. They were the clubhouse leaders. They were the guys that kept people in line. PD is respected, but he is not a clubhouse leader. That "leads by example" stuff is just a rationalization for the fact that he is not a leader. The proof that he is not their leader is the fact, since O'Neil, Tino, Brosius, Knobs and Pettitte left, PD has been surrounded by bigger and bigger stars and PD can't get it done.
I did n't want to burst your PD icon love bubble, but you challenged me to have the discussion. In closing ARod said it before he came to NY and Sheff said it last year. When teams play the Yanks, it is not PD that they fear. It is the likes of ARod, Sheff, Matsui and before them it was O'Neil, Tino, and Bernie. He's a really good player and a matinee idol, but he has never been the Yankees most feared player.
You're right, I am used to it. I've given up talking and thinking rationally while on this site. It is impossible to talk with you stubborn Red Sox fans who will NEVER, EVER give a Yankee credit. So I am just going to give you aqll what you want....
-Jeter is a horrible shortstop who cant hit, catch, throw, or run. He is a disgrace to baseball, and his prima donna attitude is an insult to every player to ever put on a baseball uniform.
-Roger Clemens is a heartless, gutless, loser who never was, and never will be anything more than a fat, out of shape, selfish priss. A stray cat should have more standing in society than Roger Clemens.
-Joe Torre is a big-nosed loser who only won a World Series due to luck.
-George Steinbrenner is a crazy, psychotic old man who will make the world a better place when he croaks.
-The Yankees organization is a complete joke, and disgrace to baseball and baseball fans everywhere.
26 to 6 --out!
Forgot to mention...Steinbrenner is a psychopath, liar and criminal.
No. He was primarily a second baseman, but I think he may have had a little bit of experience around the infield.Originally Posted by a700hitter

ok
Where are the rings, since O'Neil, Brosius, Tino and Pettitte left? Since they left the Yankees acquired bigger stars than they had before by acquiring future HOFers like ARod, Sheff, and Unit. The also acquired Matsui. With all that extra talent surrounding PD, they should still be winning Championships if he is truly the Yankee leader. Hmmm, let me figure this out ... the Yankees keep their leader and heart of the Championship teams and surround him with more talent than before, but they stop winning championships. How could that be? Maybe you should stop lyao and contemplate that question. Ouch!
Not once did I ever claim he was the reason we won the championships. And you are a fucking idiot if you truly believe that it's his fault we havent won any in 5 years. I agree, that we were much better off before, but I still dont see how you can deny that he is the franchise player. If you would please, provide me with your definition of a franchise player. To me, Jeter fits the mold. He was drafted a Yankee, progressed through the system, won championships, awards (ROY, ASG MVP, WS MVP, Gold Gloves, almost won a batting title, and probably would have had Bill Mueller played the entire game on the last day of the 2003 season, etc), he's the team leader (say he's not all you want but you dont know what you're talking about. Jeter is definately a leader in that clubhouse), and is the face of the franchise.
And please, all of you fucking Red Sox fans need to STOP with the "where's the rings" bullshit. It's only been 5 years, not 86. You guys are like fucking Ozzie Guillen. Win a World Series and now you're the shit. Shutup already!
Way to completely jump off the deep-end and change the subject when you know you can't argue with the point I made. I have never claimed any of these completely irrational things, and I jumped into the conversation only to refute your completely irrational assertion that Jeter has more heart than the entire Sox roster. And, that is undeniably irrational. He hasn't demonstrated as much heart as an individual, Schilling, so the whole roster idea is worthy of ridicule. When I pointed this out, you, in predictable fashion, said Curt was only looking for attention, despite the fact, and it is a fact, that he underwent a procedure that had only been done on cadavers before (never a live human). I support my opinions with facts; you support yours with hearsay, innuendo, and emotion.
Given up thinking rationally? Shit, I'm still waiting for you to start. If you truly think you have been up to this point, then you might be one of the 5 stupidest people I've ever met. I've been to 8 foreign countries and over 25 states in this country, so I've mets tons of people from all around. Making the top-5 is quite an accomplishment, you should be proud. You're right, I am used to it. I've given up talking and thinking rationally while on this site.
So all of your opinions are based on fact? Thats ridiculous. But if it works for you then hey. If you cant think for yourself and have opinions based on emotion and whatnat and need someone else's facts to form your opinions for you then hey, thats cool.Originally Posted by One Red Seat

You are completely delusional and in denial if you seriously think Schilling isnt always out for media attention. And you act as if i'm the only one who believes so, this has been a heavily debated topic by tons of people for years. Get over it, Curt Schilling isnt god, ORS, he just isnt.
Can anyone make any sense of this? I know I can't, but I'll try. It seems you are saying emotion is more important than fact when analyzing a situation. If you are, you would be the first I've ever seen try and make that claim. Congratulations, you have reached a new level of absurdity. BTW, people don't own facts, they are part of the public record. So when I use them, they are just facts, not someone else's facts, and they in no way reflect on my ability to think for myself. Nice try, though.
Again, that is your opinion, but you can't back it up with anything more than him calling into WEEI a handful of times. I guess all radio talk-show callers are media whores out for attention rather than opinionated people who want to put their two cents in. By that logic, you are an internet whore for sharing your opinion on this forum. You are completely delusional and in denial if you seriously think Schilling isnt always out for media attention.
Where exactly do I say he is? Good job completely missing the point of my posts. Do they still teach reading comprehension in school? I guess you were sick that day.Get over it, Curt Schilling isnt god, ORS, he just isnt.
I'm done with you on this subject since you cannot separate your jaded opinion of Curt from your opinion of the events that transpired. For future discussions though, it would be nice if you removed your head from your rectal cleft before posting.
That is going a little bit too far now? How about our 3 longest tenured veterans in Wakefield (going on 12th season, signed thru 13th), Varitek (going on 9th season, signed thru 11th) and Trot Nixon (going on 9th season)? If those 3 didnt have heart, they wouldnt have stuck in Boston as long as they have. And thats just one of the qualities that make them great mainstays in the Hub.The fact that anybody could talk about Jeter like that is sickening. Especially coming from a Red Sox fan. Jeter has more heart than the entire Red Sox 25 Man roster.
"See what you have to ask yourself is what kind of person are you? Are you the kind that sees signs, sees miracles? Or do you believe that people just get lucky? Or, look at the question this way: Is it possible that there are no coincidences?"
I think he's exaggerating.
Anyway, back on topic. I don't think Clemens will come back to the Red Sox. Not unless we offer him the same sweetheart deal that he received in Houston, which would be impossible. Look at this way, if your hometown team offered you all that money, and the option to be home four days out of five, wouldn't you take it?
