Pedro needs to have a strong showing tonight to get some monentum before the playoffs.

Mussina is a headcase. He got the first two out, then allowed 3 runs. 3-1 Twins with Johan on the mound.

AL East here we come!

Pedro needs a good start, and the Red Sox need a crisp, clean game (and to win, most importantly).

No preview today.... The Red Sox have got to win this game.

Martinez has been awesome in his career against Tampa. This is just the opportunity he needs to get some momentum back for the post season... As this MAY be his last start depending on what Francona does with the rotation in Baltimore...

This game is important only as a proving ground for Pedro, and for momentum. We aren't catching the Yankees. Face it.

If they lose both tonight, and we win, we will be only 1 game back... and theyre down 3-1 with Santana still on the mound...

I don't know if you're trying not to jinx the team or something, Yeszir, but I can't agree with your assessment. After today, we could very realistically be 1 game out (or am I botching this elementary level math -- stranger things have happened). 1 game out with 4 to go, we're hot and they're hemorrhaging pitchers.

Do I think we're going to win the East? Mmmmm... on balance... if I were a betting man... no, I guess not. But at this point it's not just pipe dreams to think that we might.

Oh, and to make sure that I'm on topic -- go Sox! Pedro will settle down and pitch well -- not dominating but good enough to win.

Yankees take a 5-3 lead in the 7th, what else is new?

I figured the DH would be a split, now it looks like the Yankees are gonna sweep. Oh well.

Anyway, top 9, go Twins.

Yep. We're at best 2 back with 4 to go after today. That's pretty much game-set-match. So... Go A's and/or Angels!

A good start to the game at least.

This is not a good time for Pedro to be going on a slide.

Screw Pedro, he gets so pissed off that he gave up two hits that he nailed the next batter. Now we are in a bases loaded nobody out situation, congrats petey.

As bad as the Sox are now, I still love Trot Nixon. That's right, I said it again. Why this guy isn't in the starting lineup everyday is mind-boggling. TITO! WAKE THE FUCK UP!

pedro is really pushing my button right now, there is no good reason to be losing to a team you have owned

Bren25x
09-29-2004, 07:40 PM
this is just flat out sad. the blueprint is out for beating this guy. Attack his FB early in the game (88 mph), run on him all day, keep pressure on him. if this guy doesn't pull it together Schilling by himself cannot win us the world series.

The Red Sox seem to think we're on cruise control, they still gotta play hard.

Wow. I came on to bitch, but you guys covered it all for me. Nice timing for Pedro to have the worst pitching stretch of.... HIS LIFE. Great.

Who wanted to pay this guy 14-15 million again?

Bren25x
09-29-2004, 08:39 PM
i know we have a playoff spot locked up and stuff, but this is scary...our 1A ace is 0-4 in his last 4 starts with 2 of those to the Yankees the team to beat, and the devil rays the worst organization in baseball. Our pitching is suspect. not a great way to end the season adn begin 'limpin' into the post season.

to not resign pedro would be one of the dumbest moves the sox have ever made. it'll sit right up top with the roger ordeal!

75% of 1998-2003 pedro is better than 110% of clement, pavano etc.

back on topic: pedro playing poorly is killing me. i can't stand seeing this guy not play well, i'm just not used to it. but seriously, don't hate on him so soon. if you are stick with it, i don't want to see a hate bandwagon then a love bandwagon once he pitches well in the playoffs.

The playoffs are his last shot with me, so no bandwagon here. He's earned that much - but the contract should be pretty clear after this year's playoffs...

I don't think were hating Pedro so much as we are frustrated by what has happened.

because of that statement i'll take everything you say from now on with a grain of salt. seriously. before the last 4 starts pedro was pitching pretty damn well. even with 4 terrible starts his stats are not all too terrible.

there is no way whatsoever that arroyo is better than pedro. he's been great for us this season, surpassing expectations but have we all forgotten the extreme up and downs that arroyo was at the beginning of the season? i judge a player by his whole season, not by the last months of the season.

i mean seriously now, chavez and tejada were terrible against us in last years alds, does that mean oakland fans should hate on them? if it wasn't for them they wouldn't have even made the playoffs.
