Yankees star Joba Chamberlain's blood alcohol content was well above Nebraska's legal limit when he was busted for drunk driving, prosecutors charged Monday.

Chamberlain, who failed a Breathalyzer test when he was pulled over early Saturday in his hometown of Lincoln, registered a .134 blood alcohol level, prosecutors said.

Under Nebraska law, a driver is considered under the influence with a level of .08 or higher.

Breaking out from old thread.

.134? It's amazing he didn't get killed or kill anyone else.

One thing I've never tolerated are intoxicated drivers of any kind. I don't care if they end up killing themselves by hitting a tree, they deserve it for doing it in the first place. It bothers me that in driving intoxicated, they jepordize other peoples' lives on the road. It sickens me how sometimes people could disregard other people's lives and not even think of it.

I've had two close friends die from being hit by drunk drivers. I no longer have tolerance or remorse for those who continue to drink in drive. And here in Louisiana it's absolutely a joke. You can get 10 DUIs and still drive if you work the system right. An absolute joke.

Yeah, yeah it is. Any blood alcohol level more than one drink is bad when you get into a car. If it was up to me, any MLB player who got a DUI would be out for the whole season. They should get the same penalties that regular people get, but they don't.

Taunts about his team's lousy season prompted Yankee pitcher Joba Chamberlain to storm out of a Nebraska strip joint just before he was busted for alleged drunken driving, associates said yesterday.

The pitcher was spotted tossing back at least two Grey Goose vodka drinks at a friend's watering hole before hitting a topless club, where patrons said he had been enjoying the sights and tipping big - before stomping out early Saturday morning after a customer teased him about the Bombers' poor performance.

"Too bad you didn't play for the Red Sox," the customer said, according to another patron at the club. "Otherwise, you wouldn't be sitting here in a strip club in Nebraska."

Yankees star Joba Chamberlain downed vodka-and-sodas and caroused at a Nebraska strip club in the hours before he was busted for drunken driving, the Daily News has learned.

The 23-year-old pitcher went drinking at a bar in downtown Lincoln and then capped off his Friday night at a local jiggle joint, where he got into a tiff with another customer over the rival Red Sox, witnesses said.

Chamberlain - who had a blood-alcohol level more than 1-1/2 times Nebraska's legal limit when he was nabbed - was heckled as he and friends watched the dancers at the Night Before Lounge, witnesses said.

"Some guy yelled out, 'If you played for the Red Sox, you wouldn't be sitting here,'" clubgoer Gary (Bo) Bohaty said.

The father snapped at reporters outside his home yesterday.

"Please get off my property," said Harlan Chamberlain, who then pointed to a woman in a neighboring driveway. "If she got a DUI, would it be a story?"

No, there wouldn't be reporters there if she got a DUI.

But on top of the fact that DUI is a CRIME, and is also incredibly irresponsible, stupid, and dangerous, your son is a PROFESSIONAL SPORTS PLAYER. If you don't want the media following his every move, especially when he gets a DUI, perhaps you should have asked him NOT TO PITCH FOR THE FUCKING NEW YORK YANKEES.

The media do what they do.

Yeah, they wouldn't be there if your neighbor got a DUI...and they wouldn't be there if Joba hadn't, either.

Next time when he kills someone, will it be media worthy? You're lucky that sports players get off so easy. If it were up to most of us your son would be sitting in your house all next season watching baseball on television because he couldn't spring for a cab with a paycheck 100 times the size of mine.

As much of an idiot that he comes off as here I hope this guy never has to deal with losing his idiot son or anyone else he loves because Joba or anyone else couldn't stop drinking.

It was either Joba's buds or Yankee employees. Either way, as you said, it's a nightmare for the Yankee organization.

When did that happen to you?
Last August

So, it was Joba's friends that blame the Red Sox fan? That's enough for me to conclude that Joba is a jerk.

Nobody blamed the RED SOX, it was mentioned that prior to getting arrested he got into a tiny tiff with a heckler who said that if he pitched for the Red Sox he wouldnt be there. I didn't see anyone pointing any fingers, btu if they were it was at the situation that occurred that enraged Joba, not at the Red Sox in particular. Somebody didn't get a very good grade in elementary reading comprehension.

Enough a700. Your comments are out of line here. Nowhere does anyone, anywhere say that this is anything but Joba's fault. This is not the Red Sox fans fault, this isn't the Yankees fault, and for once, even I can't blame Cashman.

I do not condone what he did, it was a silly mistake that could have been tragic, and fortunately, no one was injured. It has nothing to do with the uniform he wears. This is not the type of thoughtful debate and argument I'm used to seeing from you. Enough, my friend.

I'm sure Joba's driving after drinking had nothing to do with a moron talking shit in Nebraska about the Red Sox. He drove drunk because drunk people make bad decisions.

Gom, I live in NY, and I get the NY Post. The headline on the front page says: "BoSox taunt set off Joba."

So, why am I out of line?

His friends are clearly jerks for telling this story, and Joba is just a class A Clown who needs a good ass-kicking.

I get the post too. A Red Sox taunt set him off. Nowhere in the article does it say or implicate that anyone but Joba was at fault.

A headline in the NY Post that stretches the truth to sell that paper? If you live in NY, and don't know the answer to that question, consider yourself shamed.

A headline in the NY Post that stretches the truth to sell that paper? If you live in NY, and don't know the answer to that question, consider yourself shamed. The first line of the article:

Taunts about his team's lousy season prompted Yankee pitcher Joba Chamberlain to storm out of a Nebraska strip joint just before he was busted for alleged drunken driving, associates said yesterday.

People on this forum have concluded that the "associates" in the article are friends of Joba. Why would they make such statements in an interview? Personally, if my friend got arrested, I would not make any comment, nor would I expect that my friends would make any comments if I had been arrested. This particular comment about the confrontation is a lame and cowardly attempt by the so-called "associates" to make an excuse for Joba's poor judgment.

Edit: His friends are clearly assholes, and judge a man by the company he keeps. Joba is a punk.

I'm not sure I understand your point either, 700. All I'm reading is that a BoSox taunt is what sent Joba off the edge. I don't see the correlation between that and the application of blame to the Red Sox and/or their fans. Joba got mad at the fans and the taunts, and left. I don't think that it's being twisted in a way to unfairly apply blame to anyone else but Joba.

Like I said before, if anything, the article and title make Joba out to be an idiot for reacting the way he did to a stupid taunt.

The paper is just giving the reason Joba didn't wait to sober up before taking off. That's the newspaper's job, to provide the facts and let people make their own judgements.

I don't get your point a700.My point is that it is clearly a very lame attempt on the part of Joba's so-called associates to make the case that he left while he was drunk because of some idiot Red Sox fans, with the implication that he might have been more prudent and stayed longer to sober up before he got behind the wheel of the car had it not been for the taunting. If that is not what his "associates" are trying to convey, then suppose you tell me what their intent was in telling this part of the story.

Either that, or the media is trying to inflame a story that shouldn't be inflamed. What do you think? A major league player can't take heckling? This reminds me of the Simpsons episode where everyone chants "Daryl, Daryl" toward Daryl Strawberry and he starts crying in the outfield. So if you're drunk at a bar, and you fight with your girl and storm off and get into a drunk driving accident...it's her fault? Not yours?

"His associates" could be ANYONE. It could be one of the girls giving him a lap dance for all we know. That night, she was "associated" with him. What sounds better? Associate or stripper?

In this case, at least.

The reporter found out that he stormed out cause he was being heckled by Sox fans, it makes for a interesting national story than just "Joba Popped for DUI". Call it inflaming a story but facts are facts and its part of the 5 Ws of reporting: who, what, when, where and why

I'm not trying to put myself in the heads of Joba's "associates". Maybe they thought people would sympathize with him if they heard he left cause he was being harassed by Sox fans, hell if I know. Maybe he busted a nut in his pants after a lap dance from Charlene and rushed home to change and the heckling Sox fans story was less embarassing, hell if I know

Upset at a patron's comment about the Sox? I'm callin' bullshit on this one...in fact I think we all know what the truth is.

Joba was really upset at the fact that the dancers at this backward-ass establishment in Shittown, Ne. wouldn't give him any play, thought they were too good for him...here's the dancers in question:

The first girl to break his heart that night:

Then came this beauty...she declined his advances and sent him nearly off the edge:

Then, once this dancer turned him down, it was all over. I realize it's not a girl...so did Joba...but he still thought the guy had a helluva set of tits:

Could be an interesting subplot if Tubby pitches in LAAAoA. Of course, their fans cheer when the Jumbotron says so and follows the lead of a freaking spider monkey, so I don't think they payed enough attention in the offseason to put two and two together.

On another note, I wonder if a Yankee beat reporter has the balls to ask for his reaction to what happened to Adenhart.
