It is reported that preliminary talks have begun (actually, I think they began a while ago). Why do the mfy need Boone now? They already have the best ss playing 3b. It seems to me like overkill.

I dont think so:
GM Brian Cashman said he has not received or made any contract offers to Aaron Boone's agent. A report stated Boone was close to signing, with the Yankees planning to play him at second base next season.
from: http://www.nypost.com/sports/yankees/16293.htm
But he could just be denying it to keep the pressure/publicity to a minimum. That says he'd play second base, which I think is ridiculous. The mfy seem to want to sign everyone from one position and convert them to another. And people say they arent bad for baseball.

At first I thought they were gonna get Bret Boone...I almost was going to flip out and kill a Yankee fan. It's not that big of a deal, it's for next year. Their team could look much different, and Boone could re-injure himself again.

I'm pretty sure they'd put Boone in their hole called secondbase. He's had experience there.

Honestly: who cares? He's not that good, and they'll be paying him a bunch of money. I have nothing against Aaron Boone - he was just doing his job, he got very lucky, I highly doubt it will happen again.

I like how Boone came clean with what he did, not saying he did it washing his truck  I would love to see him back in pinstripes to play 2nd. That would give us an all star at every position, right? :D
