Message from whiskeybreath, who will not be on until Monday and votes himself:

I feel like my team can beat jasonbay44 for many reasons.

First of all I think my starting pitching is better. Starters 1-3 are pretty even, although I give the edge to my #3 man Liriano. Kershaw is young and walks a lot of hitters. #4-5 startes is a clear advantage for my squad.

I also think I have a better pen. I have the best closer in the game with very strong setup men.

He has a pretty good offense but lacks a ton of pop after Pujols and Werth. My offense 1-8 does it all with a very solid catcher in Yadier Molina hitting 9th. I also think his lineup could be ordered better.

To end it, I think I have the superior defense and bench. His defense is very good, I'm a fan of it but where I think I win out is in the infield.

The End, lol sorry if that was long. I've had a few drinks and im out to log off. Be back monday nite.

I don't think bench players should hold much value, let alone come to down the winner and loser of a matchup. Someone could've stacked there bench with all DH's and have the best bench statisticly yet make little sense from a team standpoint.

In all fairness, the bench can also play in a lot of games. They can also help if players get injured, and can help in righty vs. lefty matchups. I agree that in THIS scoring system, equating the bench as equal to the other parts is flawed, but in another scoring system, it may be right.

In the playoffs they don't see much playing time unless its out of necessity. Anyways I suppose yrtb's approach of giving the team with a better bench 2 points total is fair enough.

And to your point, I would have taken off if the bench didn't closely cover most of the positions. That's why I tried to match up the benches based on position, ie, Whiskey's 1B vs. Jbay's 1B, Whiskey's Middle IF vs. Jbay's Middle IF etc.

I would have taken off if someone had all 1B/DH's on their bench.

well, one of them needs one more vote to advance to the semis (whiskeybreath votes himself and jasonbay44 votes himself)

Do I have to compare every position like everybody else is doing or can I just give reasoning as to why I've made my vote?

Oh and honestly how does bench matter that much at all, especially if this is being treated like a playoff serious? The only guys on my bench who would see any time unless there was an injury would be Jose Molina for his defense and MAYBE someone like Aybar who would be pinch running, bench should matter some but it shouldn't be the deciding factor in voting.

You can do either position by position or just as a whole

I think bay44, i think having Pujols makes his team better. Pujols alone almost automatically makes your team good, he is best 3B in MLB.

yrtb

I think you meant to say best 1B in MLB, or best player in MLB

3-2 jbay44, next vote for him wins it for him

Divinity

I vote jbay44, better team overall
