hah havent heard case closed in a long long time. anyway, i agree with everyone else so far, foulke, rivera, benitez, gagne, smoltz, k-rod possibly, id take all them before lidge.

Ortiz, i feel from what i have seen, and i watch a lot of baseball, he is NOW THE BEST CLOSER IN BASEBALL GOING FORWARD

thats my opinion, he not only has mastered his command lately, but can effectively locate his fastball like no other closer, not even KROD who will also be lights out!!

you act as if none of us watch baseball and none of us know anything about baseball. let me tell you something buddy, i watch baseball, i read baseball, i follow baseball, i breath, eat sleep baseball.

i'm not saying that you don't know anything, just don't make it seem like we don't know anything, don't just randomly join and forum and disrespect everyone. no one is going to take you seriously.

p.s.- k-rod = my number 1 pick for closer next season. if you have EVER seen him pitch you would consider him a top 3 closer (yes, i know he's not a closer)

Lidge is the best closer in baseball right now. He set the NL strikeout record, for a closer, and he only closed for half the year. He's got a blazing fastball, and terrfic offspeed stuff.

I'll take Gagne any day of the week. 80 something straight saves....you need to do more than play well in a few postseason games for me to take someone over that.
