Santana Unanimously Wins Cy Young

I think that looks about right. The writers got it right.

Exactly how I would have voted. Santana was probably the best pitcher in baseball this year, and that's the point of this award. Schilling was GREAT, as was Rivera, but Santana was unbelievable.

As far as the Regular Season goes, Santana was the best, and that's what the award is for.

We still have a shot at MVP, even though its most likely going to Vlad.

Santana almost won the pitcher triple crown schilling beat him in the wins. Santana is on my favorite team. Santana before the all star break had a 7-6 record and after the allstar break went 13-0. Estaban Loazia last year had a really good first half and then did mediocore the second half but his first half stats were almost enough to win him the Cy Young last year.

Read the posts dipshit. Santana's Cy Young was well deserved...he only had the single greatest second half in recent history. Schilling consistently dominated all season, with the exception of a few games. Schill deserved 2nd place, that's what he got. They both had outstanding seasons.

wow, you made it in my book as an informative yankee fan.

jared wright pitched will until &#39;97, alright since, but its harder in the east, try pitching him against boston or the o&#39;s who are improving, and he might get teed off on.

and yea, who did santana face? cleveland, KC, CWS and det...not great teams.

but santana was unbelievable.

truthfully to me, the only possible way to determine the winner would be to match them up in a game and see who wins.

compared to 13-0 sub 2 era.. yeah, that&#39;s a huge difference..

He actually had a 1.40 ERA over his final 22 starts of the regular season. We never really got into this because it was in Pedro&#39;s farewell thread, but I believe he&#39;ll be just as hot next season and most definitely will top his overall 2004 numbers (2.61 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, 10.5 K/9).

This kid has been held in the pen and as a spot starter far too long... He had an 11.4 K/9 in 2002 and went something like 9-1 with a sub-3 ERA as a 2nd half starter for the Twins in 2003. Last season, he finally got a consistent spot in the rotation and he blossomed.

There is no possible way to "figure out" that kind of arm action he has when he&#39;s mixing his 4-seamers and circle change-ups... bullshit. No way. Anyone who comes across him for the next four or five years (at least) will wish they hadn&#39;t.

The scary part is that Santana OVERALL in 2004 was in some ways more or just as dominant as Pedro was in 1999. Not 2000, not yet.
