I wonder if a poll should be started: Will the Sox score a run sometime in the second half of the season? Yes? No? Uncertain?

The whole al is not that great this year. Other than the royals who have been good because of decent hitting and a fantastic bullpen, everyone else is pretty mediocre. Only one other team, Minnesota, is on pace for 90 wins or more. No team is laughably bad either, as the the last place athletics are on pace for 72 wins. It would really be a shame if the sox don't take advantage of a weak al.

Lmao someone was a Ric Flair fan growing up. In Boston you and I will be, stylin' n profilin' limousine riding, jet flying, kiss stealing(at least I will be, you can't since you're married), wheelin' dealin', son of a guns!

It's only just 7 there. They'll give it another 90 minute at least.

Game rained out. First rain out at Anaheim in 20 years. At least this should help their drought situation. It's only a matter of time before they will be whining about mudslides.

Yeah, those ungrateful bastards. They have the best climate (average temperature 74 and no humidity and no mosquitos) in the country and they are always bitching and moaning about something. And when they don't have mudslides, drought or wild fires, they remind us of the threat of earthquake. When is the last time that they had a really good earthquake, They should try living through a New England winter, whiners.

First they've got to work on the old "two hits in the same inning" trick.

Anaheim are one of my "nothing" teams. There's nothing about them, their relatively short history or their ballpark that I find remotely interesting or worthy of my time. And I refuse to call them Los Angeles.

I'd say send the kid down to work on not tipping his pitches. But, we don't have anyone to replace him.

BigPapi
07-20-2015, 05:05 PM
There hasn't really been any middle ground for e-rod this year. He has either been amazing or awful when the hitters know exactly what he is gonna throw.

Northern Star
07-20-2015, 05:07 PM
So is this kid still tipping his pitches or what's the deal, because you might have to put the ace talk on hold at this point.

The simple solution would be for him to dip his head every time he throws a pitch.

No point in sending him to Pawtucket; he may as well get his on-the-job training in the bigs. It's not like he's the weak link in an otherwise playoff-caliber rotation.

What is Farrell trying to prove by sending Napoli out there? Showcasing for a trade? The man is an automatic out.

a700hitter
07-20-2015, 05:22 PM
I'd agree to blow up the team, but is there anything to blow up? No one will want Napoli. We will get very little for the brittle Vicorino. They want to keep the most valuable assets in Betts and Bogaerts. Hanley is a huge financial commitment and he has not defensive position. Ortiz will die a Red Sox and Pedroia is still the heart of the team. He is probably the most valuable trading asset, but Ben doesn't have the cajones to trade him. Hanigan will not bring back much. No on wants Castillo for his contract. Panda might be a tradeable asset, but we would have to eat a lot of his salary. As for our pitchers, the kid ER is a keeper. Of the rest of them, probably only uehara has trade value. No one wants Masterson or Kelly for a stretch run, unless they want to miss the playoffs. Porcello's contract is a non starter. Maybe Miley's contract is reasonable enough to not be a deterrent to a trade.

Did anyone else note during this lovely game that Fat Boy cost his team another 4 unearned runs this game ( so far ).

That makes 5 runs his shit play has lead to in the last 11 innings.

But it is easy to see that he is "above average" defensively. And absolutely the idea of getting him was good. The execution was bad!!!!!

When ever I dis this over paid lump off goo I get criticized and asked "so you would prefer to have Middlebrooks?" I used to give a detailed, rational answer to that question.

Now I will start giving a brief and rational answer to it. Yes.

Station 13
07-20-2015, 06:25 PM
the team allow an insane amount of unearned runs because of Panda and Hanley, mainly the former who just cannot field and throw. Fatboy cannot keep this shit up anymore. Every position players except Xander and Mookie just don't have any range.

Pablo always seemed like an attention grab signing. Shields will be a better deal in every single year of their respective contracts.

I'd look to try to eat 15-20 million on that contract and dump him. Holt is the future at 3B.

BigPapi
07-20-2015, 06:41 PM
Besides his poor defense, the other problem with Hanley this season is his ops. .790 isn't a bad ops by any means, but it's low for a guy with 19 hrs and a .265 batting average. He doesn't walk and somehow only has 6 doubles on the season.

They have to be just hoping he gets a hot streak so he has some value...... there is no other reason to keep him in now.
