I don&#39;t see how this trade can go through however. Oakland is already 4 million over budget and they are just adding on more salary. The combined total of the players Texas is receiving is only 400K over Pedro&#39;s entire salary plus he&#39;s receiving all the other overpaid players.

Believe it or not it does work with salary. While Oakland is adding a SMALL amount of salary (approximately &#036;1.5 million) rules allow for a team overbudget to accept &#036;2 million in additions. So therefore this works.
